Hey whats up guys. Hope all is well with you all

So, winter is coming up and I have been using a window ac unit to cool my grow room. However with winter coming up, I don't think i will have the same success of being discrete with the ac blowing 24/7.

Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do in place of the window ac unit for cool ac? Need help asaaap please. Open to all ideas and suggestions

Plus the window AC will start freezing up the evaporator coil when it gets down into the 50's outside. Can't blow much air through a block of ice lol.

The easiest solution is to draw cold air from outside to cool the grow. It often works out best if you run at night so it's still cool outside even if you have a warm ish day during the winter.

Do you need heat anywhere in the house? You could use box your ac and vent the heat to a cool part of the house. This assuming you're running sealed with co2, otherwise, yeah, cold air outdoors....

I use a 6" inline fan to blow cool outside air into the grow room until about 79F, then it switches over (using an Inkbird temp controller) to my portable AC unit until lights out at about 3 PM. I live in a desert, cool nights but 80-90f through Sept., in Nov. or Dec. I have to put a heater in there for lights out for about 4-5 hours.

In the winter I have it changed around where the 6" fresh air fan comes on @ 78-80F. Heater programed to come on @ 65F max in dark. Plants love fresh air.

circulate the heat to the house instead of wasting it? Do you have a duct system you could dump it into? It shouldn't be an issue if you are carbon scrubbing or the grow isn't too big

If it is sealed, you could put the window a/c inside your house to transfer heat out of the room into the next room, but you will need to make a drain of some sort for it

This is the route I went, I took the window unit apart and made it light proof, sealed it. Will use the back end to supplement my in floor garage heat and circulate air. Prior, the ac was in the garage and I vented outside and took the ac air from garage. Winters -30, I can’t vent or draw that death air lol. I’m still setting up and hope to be running in the next 2 weeks.

i draw in the death air, just gotta be careful how you do it with dissipation, I use the floor gap I've created to my advantage, having my cold air move through as much space as possible before reaching my plants. I do have the advantage of ten foot ceilings though 20200926_091344.jpg

I setup co2 and wanted to lose the vent fan noise as well. Having the room in the heated garage as, it just was easier, should be in full control now. I stuck to the garage because of the high ceiling too.

I think that's a good idea but how do you handle the extra moisture? Inside the tent/room the weather is tropical vs possible subzero outside.

Won't the windows fog, etc...?

If you don't have insulated ducting it will condense quickly inside it, you'll need to make a water trap/collection tray with a hole poked to let the water out.
If you don't do something your gteed to get water condensing in the ducting, or I do in the depth of winter.
