Right on. What LED's did you get?I have leds coming for this site finally!!! Last run for this setup yay!
Makes sense from that standpoint.Hellofagrow! Actually, I can say led is equal in most areas, better in others. I once grew under 1000w + 400w hps in a small room and grew nice weed and only changed over to led type lighting (qb, cobs) because of a ballast failure..... and the first thing noticed was heat became much easier to handle which alters other grow parameters....which in turn, according to season, increased grow size, yeilds and anything due to the better health.
That being said, led type lighting may only be better because of ease of controlling other primary parameters. AND, I like the lower cost !!
A 4500 dollar electric bill plus in my other grows im getting the same if not more weight using less wattage and cooling. Bud density and terps are there and the levels are the same strain for strainI'm a hermit who rarely smokes any weed other than my own, so it's fair to say I don't see much outside my circle. I don't see what all the LED rave is about. Have you found LED grown to be superior to HPS? Most people I see using them are noobs so you can't get a good representation of what they do. Medicropper setup a room with some that I was/am eager to see the outcome but he hasn't put up an update. Best of luck with the switch.
I figured electric had something to do with it. I just was wondering about the quality of the end product.A 4500 dollar electric bill plus in my other grows im getting the same if not more weight using less wattage and cooling. Same or better honestly.I figured electric had something to do with it. I just was wondering about the quality of the end product.
If you’re growing 500+ plants like OP is better to go with LEDs, saves a ton of money on that electric bill.I'm a hermit who rarely smokes any weed other than my own, so it's fair to say I don't see much outside my circle. I have been a HPS grower since 1989 and have recently played around with some higher quality "white" LED and I must say that I am very impressed. Same cut, same nutrients but I am getting better density and overall higher quality under LED. That and the massive energy savings make it a very good lighting option.I'm a hermit who rarely smokes any weed other than my own, so it's fair to say I don't see much outside my circle. You my man, have nothing but good information and knowledge to spread. I'm just sucking it up, lol.I have been a HPS grower since 1989 and have recently played around with some higher quality "white" LED and I must say that I am very impressed. One of the big keys to growing under LED is that you need warmer canopy temperatures than you do with HPS. This is due to the LED lacking the IR wavelength that HPS has in so much abundance. So failure to get the canopy temps up into the mid 80's will cause slow growth rates and loss of yield. This means you save even more energy with LED. You are using less watts to run the light and therefore less watts to cool the light plus we don't have to cool the room down as much. All in all that does add up to a big savings. And did I mention we don't have to change bulbs with LED either. In large commercial grows just changing out all the bulbs is a days work not to mention costly and it sucks ass when a bulb goes out mid run...
LED does have it's drawbacks. For one it's high price. Also quick obsolescence. There are also known issues with the LED surface reacting with compounds in the air causing diminished output levels that really start to add up after a couple years. I highly recommend pulling LED lights out of the room before running a sulfur vaporizer thats for sure. The biggest problem I have with LED lighting is all the misadvertising, trying to make some shitty blurple seem like a "Full Spectrum" 2000 watt light when it's only capable of vegging a couple square feet.

Yeah, I've always felt the same way. Especially on electrical and wiring issues. That's my area of expertise, and I've seen him toss out some REALLY in-depth explanations on the stuff. 100% of them have been right on the money. All of his info is awesome, with no BS....You my man, have nothing but good information and knowledge to spread. I'm just sucking it up, lol.
Thanks man. Sound like there's a little learning curve and it not as simple as swapping one for the other if you lack experience with LED's. Is there a brand I should be looking at when I upgrade?I have been a HPS grower since 1989 and have recently played around with some higher quality "white" LED and I must say that I am very impressed. Off the top of my head HLG, Timber, Gavita, Fluence are all good lighting brands, there are some other good ones. Whatever you think about purchasing, run it by us first because there are way more bad LED lights than there are good ones and there are new lights coming out all the time.Is there a brand I should be looking at when I upgrade?

When shopping for LED lights, sort the list from highest prices to lowest prices, you get what you pay for with LED lighting. Also know that the good lights are often on back order, patience is bitter but it's fruit is sweet.
of even kidding on the days worth of work. There’s 32 lights in there it takes forever. Hell pulling those tables out and scrubbing them down is a days worth of work alone. Currently there’s 20tons of ac in there I should be able to manage with 15 or less after the change. My other sites have mini splits as they're set up for individual rooms for more perpetual tape grows. All of my grows vary this one is coco. Another I have is organic soil and another is grodan and just bought a chiller and stuff to setup a full hydro room again. Things are moving and business is good. I just simply love growing and the plants I grow.I have been a HPS grower since 1989 and have recently played around with some higher quality "white" LED and I must say that I am very impressed. I almost went with fluence but I got a better deal on 30 220v 650 r’s. Basically paid 820 a piece for them which isn’t bad considering.Off the top of my head HLG, Timber, Gavita, Fluence are all good lighting brands, there are some other good ones.
