Do not get any light from vivosun.
You can't go wrong with 2 315w LECs (CMH) with the 3100k phillips bulbs. Keep in mind you will have to replace bulbs after so many cycles, they are around $70 bucks. Very good bang for your buck fixture currently, pretty sure I paid almost $500 for my sunsystem 315 in 2016 and they have gone way down! I would run 2 315 watt LECs with the LED fixture of your choice in the middle for the 8x4. Then you would veg with the dimmable LED.

Is open wiring on HLG kits really a concern? If no spraying goes down in the tent I don't see a hazard with it. I would love to hear an electrician's opinion on this argument that was made at the beginning of the thread.

This thread sure turned into the Lighting Matrix. Whatever you decide to get for your first grow. Most companies have a good return policy so if you don’t like what you initially get or it doesn’t work how you want it too. You could always send it back and try the next recommendation. Good luck :)

That sounds like a good idea. just mix it up so i have led and CMH. might just do that since no one is for sure set on one and i am getting confused on what to get lmao.

Watt for watt CMH will yield more with higher THC/Terpene content.

The fact that you can get equal if not better yields with 3 315w (990w actual) compared to 1000w HPS (1200w actual) = more efficiency.

I am going for best yields and buds with more thc/terps that is a win for me

That would be a great mix. Personally I would do 1 630w CMH in the middle of 2 240w LEDs. The 630w CMH covers a 4x4 and the 240w LEDs each cover a 2x4 so it would be perfect coverage.

so spiderfarmer 4000s would be the way to go huh?
imo, im happier with my off-brand purchase (hy-grow lighting solutions) than i am with my SF-4000 or my Mars TS-3000. Dollar for dollar? These lights use the new 301H quantum boards, they have the same mean-well drivers.... and they cost less. still having a warranty. check these out by going to ebay & putting in item # 224099537146 into the search bar. i think the $219 (w $18 shipping) is the very best deal on quantum boards right now. that’s under $1 per watt. SF will cost around $1.33, and they (as well as my Mars) uses the older Samsung LM301b chip. Hygrow sells several versions, and i think the 250w is the best, as u can get several & space them out, getting better coverage. Your 4x8 will need about 4
