Flies in my bud???

Anyone had this before?

I harvested a small autoflower I had growing in my greenhouse. Had to harvest early since bud rot was slowly taking my plant.

When drying, I noticed a few brown balls drop out. Thought they were seeds but were a bit bigger, so crushed them and assumed they were some type of dead bug. I pulled out what I could but there was quite a few and some were pretty deep in the buds. Now it is jarred I am pulling out a fly a day in each jar.

Anyone ever had these fuckers infest your buds? What type of fly are they? I'm not sure if I want to keep smoking this shit.

Looks kinda like a bee. Did you dry the buds, or are they still really moist? Do you know the RH in the jar?
I dried for about 7 days and then jarred and burp multiple time a day. I used a wood humidity detector on the buds and they are about 18%. Seems to burn pretty good. Could probably dry a bit more. I don't know rh in the jars.

The casings were in the bud before drying. I noticed them first when I was cutting the plant down.

I was doing some research and looks like they are hoverflies. I guess they're great to have around the garden because there favorite meal are aphids. Not sure why these guys decided to switch from aphids to my weed

Maybe you had Aphids and the Hoverflies killed them...Very possible. I'd probably vape it !!

"a wood humidity detector" Like with a probe for measuring the wetness in firewood or lumber? While resourceful, probably not too accurate for weed.

Will do, I'm just going to leave lids off jars for a few more days.

This was my first plant, have 3 photos about 3 weeks away and wanted to practice on the small auto. The buds were pretty airy and not dense, my photos look much nicer.

you can buy them for a few dollars each on EBay, etc.

Thank you. I'm in Canada, just looked. They're about $5 a peice here off amazon. I'm about harvest 3 big plants and dont think I will have close to enough jars. I guess if I buy 4 I could put them in 4 random jars at random to check.

My guess would be because of the bud rot. The highlighted lines are from an article about them I found. I'm pretty familiar with them but have never had to deal with them in this way. But I have never had bud rot to my knowledge, fortunately. I have had a fly or two get stuck to super sticky indoor lmao.
Sorry bout your bud friend.
