Sprouting up with shell still on.

Hey Folks.
I have a question about growing in Rockwool.

after my seed opens and the taproot emerges, I place seed in hole of small 1 inch Rockwool cube.
But it will often emerge from the whole with the shell still on, because if i cover the hole the plant gets the white fuzzy mold...

What can I do to get the seedling to emerge from the Rockwool without the shell attached?

It’s called helmet head, It’s caused by burying them to shallow, If you plan on saving it you are going to have to delicately remove the head a.k.a. the shell. With something small like two sewing needles. Once the cotyledon Is expose it may also have a membrane which you should mist wet & And gently peel away however you see fit. Bury them deep or next time they know how to find their way up no matter how deep within reason.

I've had it happen with soil/coco even when planted pretty deep. Misting and tweezers with a small prayer or blood sacrifice before just in case.

I'm pretty sure it's just still pulling nutrients from the seed and hasn't fully expended it yet.... but I've tried to let it go and gotten weird deformed first leaf sets.
Yeah I know what you mean once I got the shell off it was still covered in the membrane. I was doing my best to make sure I didn’t stress it anymore than it had to be being an auto. I wasn’t able to get the membrane off completely here I’ll show you

I just popped a Forbbiden Fruit Cake, and the shell was stuck on one of the cotyledon. I just misted her, and kept her under a dome. A couple days later the shell just fell off.
