4x4 light for $1,000

Ah okay. well, my tent is 80” in height. Using dwc cuts out 15” of space with the buckets, then if I used a light like the HLG 600 or 550, and had to hang 24” + above the canopy, and 15” recommended below the roof of the tent, that only leaves me with 26 inches of actual plant height to work with. Which id like to be able to grow plants a little taller than that haha.

I think you did fair research because I was going to suggest HLG before you said you were working with limited height. That light does look really badass.

haha yeah the HLG lights really impressed me, but with the height restrictions I think it would just be negating any positive benefits the HLG would provide. Given my height restrictions, you think the Raging kush would be a good choice?

Hey guys I'm interested in purchasing a light for around $1,000 for my 4x4 does anyone have any reccomendations? I was thinking possibly hlg 650r or growers choice roo 720 any thoughts?

Hmmm, a 600 watt hps run you a few hundred and you have like $700 to put in the piggy bank. Das what I would do.

nope, LED all the way. Too hot where I live for hps, and this light is designed to replace 1000+ watt hps.

Nothing wrong with LED. I use both HID and LED lighting myself, I get the appeal. I’ll show myself out of the convo since I didn’t take time to read the details. I just always see people starting out with LED when it doesn’t ALWAYS make sense to lol. Good luck on your grow

I would get this! They have a 600w but I think it's over kill for a 4x4. This is the rebranded Lumatek Zeus 600 Pro that was rated very highly by Migro's youtube review

I have the 465w pro perfect size for a 4x4 and not an over kill on umol/s, I am glad I didn't go with the 600w or I wouldn't have enough space for hang height, I would of had to grow bonsai plants haha. I think that is the main problem with people buying LED's they go over kill on umol/s without running c02. My 465W pro has an efficiency od 2.7umol/j and ppfd of 1256. You only need 600-800 umol/s for phat buds. 1000 if you use c02.

No worries. I do like that he puts them together in the US, and that the money is going to a good cause. I just personally think he's buying the cheaper Chinese knockoff boards and just putting them together here and selling them on EBay, and he can say Made in the USA because he actually built it here. I avoid the Chinese knockoffs, but that just me.

Thats quite a statement as I'd say 98% of LED's are made in China anyway. Your smart phone TV and everything else electronic you own was made in China. The places to avoid buying from are Amazon and ebay.
What do you grow with USA made candles? Because I can guarantee you're Ballast's, Bulb's and everything else was made in China

48"X48"X80" with eight 100W cobs. Chiwanese knock offs. Luminous brand. Higher output and more efficient than Sammies supposedly. 28-32" x 10 plants. Just defoliated. Not enough spread. But damn good for a 16 week grow under $120 used lights on their fifth year.

Ebay auctions. Need to know how to find items in wrong categories. No competition most times. $21 for 4 2'x2' 3528 LED panels. Best early veg lights I've had. Being cheap pays off on occasion.

the raging kush is led. And if I went HLG that’s 15” with res, 24”min hang height, and recommended 15” below top of tent. That Only leaves me with 26 inches of plant growth to work it. And I’d like to be able to grow them a little taller than that. (4 plants in a 4x4 btw) also the RK has incredible uniformity(even at 9” hang height), customizable spectrum, cool patents and tech

Put a couple case fans above the HLG and reduce the head room.

how much would it reduce it? keep in mind if went HLG I’d prob spring for the 650 which is about 1,099$, plus fans would prob bring it up to 1,125$. The raging kush is about 1,230$ so only 100 more and I could grow taller plants.

I’ve looked into a lot of diy kinda stuff to save money but unfortunately I lost most of my left arm a few years back so a lot of diy stuff seems like it would be really difficult for me :/ that’s why I’m really just trying to keep it simple.

Only missing three bones from my left wrist. Share your frustration. Wish I had an answer. Not a light expert. But it doesn't have to be the newest to get the job done.
