No originally they were made in china to keep cost down, very shortly after they started making them in the US
Parts are from all over including china.
The diablo boards as far as I know are made for them by Samsung.

Thanks for the info, I know many components are coming from China but didn't realize they moved production to the USA. That is good to know, much appreciated .

HLG’s are not the cheap option, but I’ve had zero problems in 2 years of service. I have 18 running. Not sure why they drifted away from the Meanwell Driver’s, but glad I got mine before they did. Like they say, you get what you pay for.

First picture is the specs on the HLG Diablo which is what I’m running. You can compare those to the specs of the Spider. The second picture is HLG’s Spectrum and the third is the SF4000 spectrum. It’s also worth noting that spider is still using B diodes and HLG has moved on to H diodes even in their smaller lights. Comparing spectrums, specs components etc. the HLG will wax a SF. It’s not hard to find a 10% discount code for HLG as well. I paid under a grand for each of my Diablos.

I had a meanwell driver warrantied by the folks at HLG and they said they were moving away from the meanwell drivers on their higher wattage lights because they had suffered a few failures.

I get it, people love their HLG lights and I have nothing negative to say about the lights themselves. I would love to be able to set up multiple grow rooms and test a bunch of different lights in the real world with clones to see what is what. In the end would the different specs make a big difference like they do on paper? I see tons of grow journals with amazing results from SF, Mars, HLG and many others. Clearly you can grow a great crop under all those brands and there are differences in each. The debate can go on for ever. I am not here to convince anyone to use or not use a particular brand, I am just looking to get the most bang for my buck. I appreciate your input thought.

The light the driver failed on was used so I don't know the exact hours on it other than what the person I got it from told me.

Not trying to spread rumors but as far as I'm concerned if they were having issues i'm glad that they decided to source something that they feel more confident with.

I agree with most of what you said just wanted to mention that the B & H diodes are the exact same. The H is just marketed towards horticulture.

I would love to be able to set up multiple grow rooms and test a bunch of different lights in the real world with clones to see what is what. I can only base my opinion on experience and although I’ve always ran HLG lights my cousin has tried a plethora of lights over the last couple years from blurple to non hlg quantums. I finally gave him a HLG 320xl 3 board r spec light I wasn’t using and he was absolutely amazed at the growth differences. He went on to purchase another HLG light with the H diodes (the 320 I gave him had b diodes) and again couldn’t believe the difference between the b and h diodes.

His plants under the HLG with H diodes were weeks younger than his plants under the HLG with B diodes but the plant was bigger and more vigorous. When I made the switch to the Diablo lights I also noticed a huge difference in growth. Do I think HLG outperforms SF beyond paper absolutely. Are the other lights junk no I’m not implying that either I do see people getting good results with others but HLG has the better lights on and beyond paper when compared to SF for example. You can spend 600 on a SF or spend a little over 300 extra on a Diablo.

That may be true but I have first hand seen growth differences between the two lights with the different diodes. Maybe it’s something else causing the enhanced growth idk I’m not a botanist or a light builder or a pro.

It was likely due to one of the many different environmental factors. Samsung has confirmed that there is no physical difference between the two. I purchased the H diodes before I did extensive research, thankfully the cost difference for me was negligible.

Just an fyi i contacted hlg directly and they told me that the guy who runs growers lights has not placed an order with them since march
