What is the optimal ballast setup? Bulb?

Hey everybody!

I lucked upon a Galaxy 1000 watt ballast while i was purchasing stuff at an auction. I planned on growing 6 plants in my closet but actually have 8 that are 1 month into veg. I have been running a MarsHydro TS 1000 above and hanging another cheap LED on the side but I've been thinking since i have the ballast maybe i should switch to an HPS grow to attempt maximum grow potential.
What do you guys think? Energy no concern. From what Ive read id get a sun system reflector but im definitely looking for recommendations on which HPS bulb to get or if i should just finish out this grow with the LED's i have now

You will get a much better yield with the HPS obviously. Since your grow room is about 3.5x3.5 you would want about 400-450 actual watts of LED so I would just run the HPS.

I would not run the HPS at more than 50-75%. You don’t need 1000w for a space your size. I swear by Hortilux super HPS bulbs. If I didn’t run Hortilux I would probably go with Ushio.

You will also probably want to air cool the light with an air cooled hood and in-line fan.

Get a wide reflector that will have good spread like a magnum, dominator, kahuna, etc. and stay away from smaller reflectors like the yield master.

Thank you for your time my friend! I'm excited to be starting down this path
