Pass the Flushy to the left hand side

Hi all

Newbie to the site, only my second grow.

This is a question/discussion about flushing... I've got an outdoor grow going on - if anyone else is putting up with this UK weather, please send love for my suffering Bubble Runtz! Anyhoo, my medium is Coco/peat/perlite/batguano and been using biobizz.

Being outside my girls have been taking a hammering with the rain recently, and aside from a careful management of rain when it sits on the tips of the leaves and watching for bright sunlight on sitting water it's all been ok so far.

So the question is how to long to flush. I'm thinking a week would be fine given that they're taking a soaking every couple of days and should have broken down the excess salts and various things throughout the grow.

Any thoughts?

Flushing, oh oh, que both sides to grab their torches and pitch forks.46585-pitchforks.gif Honestly thought, just do a quick search about flushing your plants in top right corner. There is a thread every few days asking this and all the information is right there. It also saves you having to duck from whichever side you are on.

I kind of hoped to inspire a little debate, and I love how it's the 2016 election of the cannabis world.

Thanks for the pointer, I've read a few and didn't see one which was quite the same setup as me.

So what would you do? One week or two?

Personally I believe flushing is for the medium to remove salt buildup and not for plants. I would taper the nutes down over last couple weeks but would not "flush" as people call it. That's just me though. Pot does many things in last couple weeks of life, all beneficial for grower, so I don't find starving them in that period a good idea.

No Flushing for me. I'm a UK indoor grower and am actually using a very similar combination of Soil and Nutes mix as you. I do the sane as Doug Dawson, I just reduce the amount of nutes towards the end. With Organic Nutrients there's far less chance of a salt residue than there would be with Chemical Nutes. Sorry the shit weather got you too mate. Cheerd

Yeah, I'm thinking similarly to you both. I wanted to keep the nutes running as long as possible and got scared by the big bad flushing bogey man, or Flogey man??? I'm fairly safe, in that my flowers are staggered so I can kind of work with trial and error and see what works for me, and change my system as I go.

No Problem and dont be scared of the Bogey Flushing Man, lol. Flushing definitely has it's place, but not for organically grown plants that are healthy and It's all trial and error in the beginning mate, God knows how many mistakes I've made over the years and still make now, lol. Cheers

Yeah, as I'm so new to growing I'm trying lots of ideas and different strains to see what works for me. I'm kind of resigned to the probability that not everything will be great so I'm trying not to be too precious over my ladies.... which isn't working lol.
