In Australia in summer it gets to 40C quite regularly. I grow without climate control under LED and this is how they turn out after a long, hot summer. They get big, but a bit leafy. Buds are usually airier, plants will stretch and flowering times can take longer when it's hot. But as long as you look after the plants they can handle it. I grow all through the year and the plants have different photomophogenic responses from season to season as the temperature and humidity change.

Actually still haven't went and bought it, I want the trolmaster controller but Its a bit expensive so I'm looking around to see what can find and local stores since I need tanks anyways. But I def getting it this week.
I’m gonna sell my Titan Controls co2 controller soon. Buying a complete environmental controller, which includes that function.

Bugbee (Utah State U crop biologist) says ideal temp range for cannabis is 77-86F (co2 enriched) to maximize yield. (I believe) most growers would say “keep it < 80F (even with co2).

How many of you grow (flower, in particular) over 80f, how high DO you go, & what do you see as a result?

82 is my usual. A/C kicks on at that point and brings temps down to 79. The cycle repeats until it gets cooler outside. 84 is the point of unacceptable where something needs to change immediately.

I kinda knew that he was only talking about air temp.
What I was getting at is that asking what temp people run their room at, or who runs theirs at above a certain temp, doesn't seem to be enough info anymore (in my opinion). The only reason we even bring up temp (air temp) is because it related to the actual plants temp.

And you can't really accurately calculate VPD without the plant's/leaf surface temp.
If people respond with "I run my room at 'x' temp", or "above 'x' temp", and don't also say what the leaf/plant temp is...it can be (unintentionally) misleading. Even if they say what type of light they're using, though that's definitely useful.

I think we should be asking what temp do you run your... plants at, haha, if that makes sense. The follow up would be "how do you run your room in order to achieve that plant temp?" or something.

I guess I'm just ranting now..
To answer your question though, yes, I do. If I'm running led, I'm always trying to be 80 minimum - preferably 82-88. But depending on the rest of the environment, and it's really based on what's required to get the actual plant; the leaf surface temp is say...80*F.
Usually, the leaf temps are 4-5* lower than the ambient air. So 80* air temp just doesn't cut it. But that's for my current/previous environment. Nearing the end though, I'd want the plant (and air) to be cooler, for reasons mentioned; terps, etc.

Hope some of that is remotely useful, hah.

Edit: Oh, as a result (of warmer/sufficient plant temps) I see more growth - rate and mass, for sure. Higher metabolism, etc.
Good point. I had my temp gauge in my 3110 watt flower room mounted on an inline fan that pushes air through my HID's. Temp kept reading 78-82. Bad move on my part, and I should have known better. About a week ago I walked into the room for a morning inspection of the previous night's flower cycle with my green light, and noticed light bleaching on a few fan leaves. I also noticed a few small leaves around the new flower sites started looking like taco's due to heat stress. I popped a 4' garden stake in the center of the canopy and mounted the hygrometer to it about 4 inches above the canopy. When I did an inspection at lights on later that same day I saw 89 on my hygrometer. Dam near shit myself. In 10+ years of growing I've never had temperatures above 84, but I've also never ran 3110 watts of power in my flower room. I had to dial down 1 LED unit and both of my HID's to 50% power. This was a week ago. Since there has been no additional light bleaching and no more taco leaves. As temps cool in the next few weeks and flower set occurs I'll crank up the volume again.

Out of curiosity why don't you install a co2 burner instead of hauling tanks? I'm adding one in 9 weeks after my next harvest. $300-$400 for a nice quality 4-6 burner unit along with a quality PPM controller ($200-300), because I can't imagine hauling tanks back and forth to the store constantly. That's horribly inconvenient, and the cost for a burner isn't much more than the initial cost of buying a co2 tank. Every grower's situation and grow room needs are different, but hauling tanks is not viable for me. Who has time for that? Installing a Tee on your natural gas line is incredibly easy. Run your flexible hose that comes with the co2 burner from the Tee. Add your controller and you're jamming. Hell many units even run on propane if you aren't mechanically inclined and prefer not to monkey with gas line. Super duper easy. I watched a guy hauling a co2 tank one day on one of my rare visits to a local hydro store for an item I could not wait on to be delivered, and he was doing his very best to pretend it wasn't an absolute bitch. You could see the truth allover his face though. I'm too old for that noise man :)

2. Bummer, w/regard to the NG non-compatibility.
3. Especially $12.
4. Either the Autopilot F90 or the Titan / Spartan equivalent.
5. Am in MI, will be for sale. Kinda wanted to use it for another 2 weeks or so. Bought it new about 6 years ago. Dunno model but will attach pic.

My NG co2 burner is an old C.A.P. Yeah, I can’t haul co2 cylinders around, tho the heat & moisture decrease wud b nice. Soon bringing home a new electric ignition Titan NG, so I can lose the fucking pilot light on the CAP.
I also like that NG is cheap as shit. My unit has 4 burners, I have 2 plugged. The impact on my NG bill is so small as to b irrelevant.

Congratulations on the new house! I have to ditch the portable AC and install a mini split before next summer arrives to complete my co2 burner upgrade and keep it running year round. What size mini split do you have? I have been considering a 24,000 BTU unit. I'm wondering if it will be enough with a 4 burner co2 generator running in the summer months. $12-$20 seems reasonable for a tank swap. Good move on making the change. Down the road you should think about making life easier on yourself. Grab one of those handy co2 burners that operate on propane. I was reading another thread about co2 generators and one fella said he only had to do 2 tank swaps through his whole flower cycle. Easy to haul to.

Keeps me busy as of late. I'm working on automating the watering. Even with a water wand and pump it's a bitch. What can ya do? Try to solve one problem at a time without another one cropping up. It's a real swinging pendulum. Some days workout better than others.

And the clone tent. I'm working on clone tote 2.0 after these are rooted in a Lowe's 27 gallon tote. The squares on the lid are uniform and evenly spaced rather than diamonds on the home depot tote. I can get 35 clones in the Lowe's tote. Only 24 in the Home Depot unit. Also, I'm redesigning the PVC manifold. I installed 180 degree nozzles spraying up which occasionally causes a small leak at the lid of my tote. This agitates me, and I am solving the problem with 360 degree nozzles positioned in a more appropriate angle so no water is directed towards the edges of the lid. Simple solutions to simple problems. Had to spend another $10 for another tote, but anything worth doing is worth doing right eh?

The nozzles should be mounted on the top of the PVC manifold rather than the exterior. Instead of 180 degree nozzles they will be changed to 360 degree nozzles. Waiting on my shipment to arrive from dripdepot.com. Great prices and selection on quality nozzles with great threads.

The beginning of clone tote 2.0. Drilling those out with a 2" hole saw and then sanding each hole by hand is no fun my friends. No fun at all. But it's done. My nozzles should be in by this weekend. Then I'll reconstruct my manifold properly with 360 degree nozzles on top of the PVC manifold. Also, I will take the air lines and electric wire out of the tote through two of the 2" holes via net cups and a foam collar used as a gasket. This will eliminate the need for the marine gorilla tape you see on clone tote 1.0.

It scratches my brain if I feel like I’ve done incomplete or less than clean work. Irritates me every time I look @ it.

Man I know the feeling. I laid in bed last night contemplating how to solve this leak issue after spending several hours reading about how others dealt with it. Woke up and drove to Lowe's at 7:00 am this morning to pickup some new supplies. Waiting for my nozzles in anticipation. This covid-19 shit has been great for me. Been laid off since the beginning of April working on my garden and house every day from sun up to sun down. If I had kids I think it would be very different :)

I've enjoyed learning how to do a lot of new things. And I've not enjoyed repairing a lot of new things I learned about. Double edged sword it is.

Thank you, loving Mi so far especially the whole being legal part. My AC is a DIY Mr cool unit 36k btu cooling 6 de 1k lights. It keeps up with the lights, but when I run em at 115% it's just barely keeping up. That's another reason I'm not gonna get a burner right now.

I'm pretty sure I've decided on buying the hydro x controller by trolmaster as I can expand it to control pretty much everything in the room as I get more money, and I can check it from my phone if not at home.

Thank you, loving Mi so far especially the whole being legal part. My AC is a DIY Mr cool unit 36k btu cooling 6 de 1k lights. It keeps up with the lights, but when I run em at 115% it's just barely keeping up. That's another reason I'm not gonna get a burner right now.

I'm pretty sure I've decided on buying the hydro x controller by trolmaster as I can expand it to control pretty much everything in the room as I get more money, and I can check it from my phone if not at home.
Good god man that's no garden that's a small jungle! :) If a 36k mini is cooling your room nicely with 6k watts of de HPS burning I feel confident a 24k mini will allow me to run co2 in the summer and keep temps under control. That's a high times centerfold production facility you've got going there man. While co2 would be sweet I'm sure you're producing stellar results without it. I hit $552 for last month's electric bill due to a heat wave we had. I feel for you knowing what your bill was. It's all relative to output though. The pendulum swings hard the other way too :)

Im just finishing up a small round of 28 plants (experiment) .. and bought a Spartan Total Enviro Controller, and Ares 8 Burner LP generator at the flip. I ran it at 1200 ppm and 86 degrees for the first 6 weeks, then started tapering off the CO2 and temps... currently starting week 8, CO2 at 600, temps at 71 lights on 64 lights off. I have noticed a great deal of more dense buds than not running CO2. I guess we'll see how the finals come out compared to the last grow.

That's awesome to hear you're noticing an increase in density on the buds with co2. Every now and then I'll get some buds from another grower that are just rock hard dense like there's no beginning and end. It's just a solid chunk. I'm thinking that's a grower that supplemented with co2. Let us know the end result. Particularly interesting will be the change in total yield between this harvest and your last if co2 is the only thing you changed. 20% increase or more and you're talking some serious numbers.
