About 1 and 1/2 weeks, looking good?

Hey everyone, first off I'm going to apologize for asking what is no doubt a commonly asked question, but I'm gonna have to anyways.

So I started growing recently and the girls are looking good, my only concern is the soil in the tent sometimes takes 5+ days to be dry enough to water. I recently put a small fan in to increase airflow and hope that will help the dirt dry abit quicker and not grow mold on the surface. But what my main question is is whether or not these leaves are a sign of overwatering.

Ah awesome guys thanks! So I have a light that's 1000w with bloom or veg light mode. I just have it in veg mode so should I lower it closer to the plants? (Currently at about 30 inches above) although it's a new light. The past week and a half it was a 100w led light.

Move it about 24 inches and watch it. If still stretching move it closer. Just fyi your 1000w light likely is more like 200watts from the wall

Thanks again man. I appreciate the help and advice. When I get home in a few hours I'll drop it down and keep a closer eye for burning or stretching.

Just curious though, what did you mean by my light was 200w from the wall? Meaning even if its 100w output it's still taking 200w worth from the outlet?

u mentioned a 1000w light before that. If u have a "1000w" blurple light its more likely around 200 watts. If it says 100w output then thatll likely be the draw or close to. Which wont be enough to grow good buds but enough to veg with. Happy growing

Those "output" ratings on cheap led lights are bullshit. The $1300 Gavita LED thats on the market only draws about 650w. High power leds aint cheap.

I would consider that burple you are running to be a good light to sprout with... meaning start the seeds directly under that in the future, that way they wont get all tall and start falling over. The only reason a weed plant should be falling over is because the buds are to heavy for the plant to support.

Mine are 18 days old today and are already on their 5th node and topped at the 6th. You need more light on them. They’re using all their energy to reach for the light. During the seedling stage, the roots are trying to fill the pot that they’re in. When they’re busy stretching like that, the roots aren’t strong enough to support them. Throw a small fan in the grow area and aim it away from the plants to help strengthen the stem, lower your light or add more light. This is my plant at day 4 from sprout

Thanks for the input. I've lowered the light to about 20 inches and I'll start browsing for a decent light source for around $200.

I put a small fan in there aimed just above the canopy as well.

I bought a 600w vivosun HPS and got 94g. The plant was flowered for 50 days under a 150w HPS. So the buds weren’t at their full potential. The light is only $150 on Amazon and does great.. will need to invest in a exhaust fan and some air ducting for the light. But it is pretty good. How big is your box?

I have two small tents (36x20x60) that I can use. Thankfully I have a small 3d printing setup so I can use my carbon filter system from that setup.

I think I know the light you're talking about on Amazon. So would it be safe to assume I'd be able to use the current setup for a few weeks and then use that 600w vivosun for the rest of the plants veg and flowering cycle?

Maybe start with something a bit less powerful. You have a pretty small tent. I have a 48x48x72” tent. Maybe get a 250 w HPS. You’ll still get good growth. The 600w does come with a dimmable ballast to 250w. You’ll just need to buy a 250w bulb for it

I might grab the 600w and the 250w bulb and turn it down like you mentioned. That way down the road I can always use it when I have access to a bigger tent.

Little by little I'm picking up on things. Just realized too now that the humidity had been around 38% in there, should I put the vaporizer in there and get it higher?

Honestly... my humidity never goes about 40%. My plants don’t seem to mind. But the light does come with 2 600w bulbs, 1 MH and 1 HPS. Homedepot has 250w bulbs. Make sure you dim your ballast otherwise you’ll blow out your new 250w bulb. I currently have a 4x4 and the 600w fills it perfectly

Sounds good. Thanks again for all the good advice!
