Why are my plants so short and bushy

These are about a month and two weeks they are extremely bushy. It's very hard to train because everything is so close together. Is this a good or bad thing? Am i doing something wrong? As far as strain im unsure.

.

I was going to say that it's just the indica strain you have but those are very squat for 6 weeks.

How big of pot are they in? Did you get them as clones or bag seed?

They're in a 5 gal smart pot and i grew them from seed. So will they stretch so i can train them better?

Just an fyi, but if you are growing from random bag seed, your plants will more than likely turn out to be hermi. My buddy gave me a single seed of some killer stuff. he found a bean in some homegrown. It was such an awesome, stinky, frosty girl, but a few weeks into veg i noticed banana's all over the place. It was so sad having to chop that plant down after such high hopes. Mine looked a lot like this plant. Very short and bushy. Good luck to you.

Thanks, well he used to grow in California but stopped. This was from what he was growing. It wasn't just random seeds he found here and there. I will take note and make sure to keep an eye out thanks again.

Was it a clone or seeds that he made himself? If a plant hermi's during flower and produces seeds, those seeds will almost 100% always carry hermi traits.

I am its just growing so bushy its very hard to with new growth im training with stakes instead of training wire so you cant see
Do what you can to hang onto the larger fan leaves. If you must defoliate (if you're unable to tuck or pull them out of the way) concentrate on only removing any secondary, inward-facing fan leaves that might be blocking bud sites. I'd start by training the entire plant in the direction of your preference. Once that's done, you should start to be able to manipulate other branches.
