DAMN! A week away from chopping the fattest, juiciest buds I've ever grown and then I saw those spidery web-like filaments in the middle of the plumpest top buds... BUD ROT!! F&^CK!!! It's my own fault. Such a newbie mistake... temps in the mid to high 80s, and RH over 75%... man I am so frustrated I might go back to buying weed. How does everyone handle these temps and RHs in the middle of the summer? Grow room is in the basement, but I just can't keep it cool and dry with two tents there... I have an air conditioner blowing cool air into both tents. I switched up the timing so I am running lights at night now (8pm to 8am), and my temps are better (mid-70s now) but RH is still up in the 70s. I bought two small dehumidifiers - one for each tent, but they haven't arrived yet. But I'm worried those will increase temps in tents...

I had to chop those big, beautiful, amazing looking buds and just toss them in the trash... how much of the rest of that plant is salvageable? Can I keep and dry the lower buds or do they all have to go? Do I need to Clorox down the inside of the tent, or what? How can I keep those RH's down? Help! thanks guys!!

There are these crystals that you can buy from hardware stores that you throw into a pillow case or old shirt and tie up to hang over a bucket. They absorb moisture in the air and just drip down. It's like 2 bucks for a couple kilos. I'm not sure what its called but it looks like course grain salt. I dont have anyway of measuring humidity. But it does feel noticeably less humid in my room when I use those.

You just need to get your humidity in check. Dont worry about the temps unless it's crazy high. Cool air holds more air than warm air and I'm pretty sure you were dealing with vpd related issues during most of your grow. Raise your temps is what I'm getting at. Run dehumidifiers during lights out

I have no experience with them. My tent changes the air over enough that I felt I should just dehumidify the room it's in, rather than inside the tent. I only run it during the dark cycle. I lost a couple tops on my last harvest as well, so I know the feeling and had to overcome the same hurdle. Hopefully you didn't trash too much

You can load up with the biggest exhaust fan possible, but if your air is humid, your air is humid. The dehu's will raise the temps in each tent, if you're planning on sticking them in there. And not to burst your bubble but the 'damp rid' won't do enough to make a difference. You'll need to fix the humidity in your 'lung room'....that is where the dehu's need to go. And don't sweat the 80s in terms of temp....these plants have been growing in nature long before you and I and they weren't being babied by nature...80 is nothing. Good luck.

I grow in the same situation. In the basement, similar (actually slightly higher) temps. What you need to do is invest in a larger dehumidifier. Like 70 pints or more. You need to dehumidify the room the tents are in, not the inside of the tents.

It will possibly raise your temps a bit but the humidity control is far more of a necessity. If you have the ability to run a drain to waste system with it then you can run it non stop. Otherwise, you check it and dump the bucket 2, maybe 3x a day.

I do not have to use an AC in my basement. Its a little warm in the summer but using LEDs the temps are acceptable a little higher:)

Maybe your AC is not strong enough, AC's tend to dehumidify pretty good...

Otherwise just follow this guy's advice, buy a big dehumidifier and be done with it =]

I had to break down and buy a 50L dehuey it was pricey. But I have seen my humidity down to 29%. Mostly it’s in the mid 40% range. I have a 5x5 tent with 1000watt LED spider farmer light. I am sorry to hear of your bud rot...can you share pics? I’m new to this first grow.

I got a 35 qt dehumidifier that pushes drier air to my tents intake. I exhaust right out the basement window. It bumps the temps up a bit but it also keeps the lights out temps up and drier.

I was running at 75f and 60rh. Now at 78f and 42 rh

Oh and 6” vivosun in a 4x4 tent with 600w hps air cooled hood. Exhaust pushes through the light and out the tent/window

I am in the exact same situation. I have a big humidifier outside the entryway to my space, and it mixes the dehumidified air from one vent with another vents cold air to solve all the issues. Inefficient perhaps, but working well.
