Outdoor Zskittles Grow Socal

Hi All-

Doing an outdoor grow and had a couple of questions for those of you experienced in growing outdoors.

Should I be spraying these plants with BT or some kind of insecticide despite the fact I see absolutely nothing on them? They appear to be pretty healthy and not sure if I need to put anything on them.

Also these were about 4in when I planted them in May, now a couple of months later they are growing higher than my fence. They appear to be just starting flower, so my question is about how much higher will they still grow? Currently a little over 7' tall. And what would be the best way to train them down? Tried some twine but feels like just pulling them into a big clump which is covering up parts of the plant that weren't previously covered.

Thanks in advance!

Looks like you live in a pace where very few plants grow naturally.... Usually a lot less bugs around to make a meal of your medicine. All farms and woods around me and bugs bugs bugs bugs. As far as taking preventive measures, im not experienced in that outdoor life yet so I cant say for sure. Looks so hot/dry there that I doubt there are many bugs that can really survive that want to eat it.

Plants look fantastic!

Do you have budworms in your area? If so, spray with Spinosad. Its more effective than BT.

If not, keep doing what you're doing and looks like you are going to have a killer harvest!

I don't know if there are budworms in this area (hour north of San Diego). I do know last year caterpillars ate all of my peppers and tomatoes. But I haven't found any on these plants yet. I did have something munch on a few of the leaves right after I planted them, but haven't seen anything since. Guess I'll get some Spinosad as a preventative measure. Thanks!!

Almost 8' tall now. Can see them from the street ><

There isn't much smell to these at all yet. Everything I've done indoors would be pretty stinky by now. Is that common with outdoor grows? Wonder if they sent me the wrong seeds?

Who made the seeds? I'm growing clones of CSI's Zkittlez s1's right now and they dont smell much in veg but in early flower they smell like bubblegum and get more fruity funk as it matures.

shes gonna need some major support. When those branches turn into kolas, the weight of them will be bending them right to the ground.
It's pretty windy here every evening and branches seem super strong, but it's getting so tall I guess I will need to figure something out.

Seeds were from Seedking. Its just barely starting to flower so hopefully it starts to get frosty further in to flower.

Thanks!!

Yea man those branches are HUGE. When theres pounds of wet bud on each branch, your going to need support. You need to trellis the whole thing.

For outdoors I always liked to make a frame around mine. Have a pitch with tarps ziptied to metal conduit so you can roll it down late in the flower season for rain. I like tying up above but its more work and looks like a spider web. I use the soft white rope from HD. You could prob get away with some wire fencing to hold the branches from falling open like a flower but you will need something to separate the branches from laying against each other too. Prob need a horizontal board running over the top for that. Maybe even 2 of em.

For the purpose of the street view i would go get a 4x8 sheet of lattice or maybe those rolls of bamboo sticks

Update 08/20. Everything seems to be going well. I've fertilized once with a handful of Dr. Earth Flower Girl at each plant. Branches starting to look heavy, I need to start staking them up.

What kind of yield do you think I might get from this? Thanks

They got heavy and started to fall, so got some stakes and started doing some support. The parts that get the least sun started flowering well before the rest and look like they may be ready in a couple of weeks. The rest may be about a month I'm guessing.

Wondering what the yield will be.

There are too many variables, no one will be able to tell you what you can expect for yield. Especially considering it depends when you decide to cut, and how well you dry, way too many things...

Your best bet is to just focus on maximizing your yield, whatever its going to be. You can do that by continuing to support them, inspect them, and keep them happy until all those white hairs are orange, if you do that, you know they will be at their heaviest point when harvesting... And if you dry them correctly your yield will be even better.

But so far I can say they look good for only checking them out a quick second. Keep it up, and keep it going to the very end, whatever you do, dont cut it early.

Also, I think it was earlier in this thread and season... but yes you definitely can spray B.t. weekly even when you dont see anything, as a preventative. I do and have for years. Nothing but benefits in my eyes *beside the fact that it kinda smells like piss...(P.t./"pee tea")*...
