Germinating seeds

What dont you believe? You dont believe that some cannabis varities that have gotten used to northern climate have thicker shell that does not open easily, or dont you believe that my method of water -> paper -> soil is reliable?
First of all it’s not YOUR method. Water paper soil is a waste. How about just soil. All my seeds that didn’t pop by paper towel have all popped when dropped directly in soil.

There are things that could go wrong with soil more easily. It is more reliable to germinate it and grow a little tail before putting it in the soil, but like i said, the difference is not big if you can plant seeds properly directly in soil. But there is a difference believe it or not

Tell that to Mother Nature........last time I looked there were no paper towels or glasses of water in the forest.

Is there anyone to bite them open? :bigjoint:
In the great north there is this thing called long and wet fall, combined with winter and then slow spring often temperatures raising well above minus celcius and then dropping again. This is why som norther varieties have thicker shell and yes its the mother nature that "bites" these things open in their natural habitat.

Lol I’m on lunch eating a burrito supreme, laughing at these comments! I won’t bite my seeds open, but I will put them back in soil and cover with a ziplock

It could take over a week. Some strains(i think this is not common in modern commercial strains) grow a very thick seed shell that you might need to help open a bit, either very gently cracking the seed open(i usually use my teeth) or by sanding the side where the seed opens with fine sanding paper. But i think this is more of a problem with northern landrace strains and crosses made from them that are bred outdoors.

I think best method is to put them in a glass of water with a drop of some root nutrient stuff, then when they open and show a beginning of a root, put them between wet paper towel for like two days until the root is half inch to an inch and then put it in soil or cube so that the tip of the plant is nearly on the surface or just on the surface if root is inch or longer. Also you can put it in a bit larger hole, so that you can easily bury some of the stem as it grows.
So I used this method of cracking the seeds open... not with my teeth though, and one is showing positive results. The other was a weird looking seed from the start, didn’t make it
