Cloning top of mother

I'm relatively new to the cloning game and I wanted to try something for my next grow. My plan is to grow her to about 5 or 6 nodes then top her at the 3rd node to do some mainlining. Can I clone whatever I topped? I usually throw out these topped mains but i was wondering if they could be put to use and clone them to grow them out, then do the same to them; top then mainline. Am I in the right to think that she'll be 2,3 weeks behind the mom, seeing as she needs to recuperate and grow roots once topped and in theory this clone can also be grown and topped and mainlined and be ready a few weeks after her mom? I basically have this wonderful strain but I can't keep her as a mother as my space is limited so I was thinking cloning her at least once to get a double harvest from this one plant. What are your thoughts? Thanks everyone.

Will absolutely work. If the strain is worth keeping, you can do that forever. Take a couple cuttings if possible to increase your success rate.
Thanks for the reply! That would be awesome if I could. It's a bagseed strain that I absolutely love and is super smelly, tasty and strong. I have no idea what the name is or anything but it's possibly the best I've ever smoked and I've smoke for about 25 years. I would love to keep her as a mother but my space is just not enough to do that.

So for whoever might be interested, the bagseed strain is apparently called OG poison. Never heard of it before and after a quick search it seems its a cross between OG Kush and Durban Poison but it's not clear where it came from.

"While there’s nothing poisonous about this strain, just a few hits will make you feel as if someone drugged you - but in the best way possible. Rumored to have been initially cultivated in 1996 from a seed found in a pound of OG, no one really knows for sure where OG Poison came from. It’s believed that her genetics are that of OG Kush and Durban Poison, but it doesn’t seem that anyone is willing to put money on that guess."

Anyone have any info on this strain?

Tops root more quickly. Make sure you bury a few nodes deep If you’re able. Don’t clip fan leaves.

Can’t help you on the strain info, sorry.
I've always had more difficulty trying to root tops vs. lower branches. Supposedly the lower branches will have more root hormone in them. Or it could be I always had less luck with tops - in my younger, less-patient days. Will have to try again.
thanks!
