Planting straight to soil

Be patient ... it can take up to 14 days to germinate seeds. Make sure the soil stays warm and moist.

Why did you leave the soil so far down in the pots? It won't affect germination but its not great long term.

This is my first time and I tried filling the pot three quarters up.

Warm? What should the temperature be at the growing tent? it's currently at 21c. should it be warmer?

Yeah, I usually start my seedlings on a heating mat. These days I use rapid rooter plugs and put them in a real warm spot. They want 80 degrees + F ... think thats like 26 C?

Next time around only leave the pots down the width of your thumb ... you want airflow around the base of the stem so you don't want the plants too far down in the pits

I wish I knew that before, too late know I guess I can't add soil with a fresh seed waiting to sprout there. temperature is now set on 26c thanks.
Yeah, just a lesson for next time ... if the plants stretch once they sprout you can add some soil around the base

There is no problem with only filling the pot part way. I do it most times. Gives you space to add soil when they start stretching.

25 Celsius is more like 75F. If your meter is reading Celsius, shoot for 30. Try to keep it around 60-65% Rh. I only plant seeds directly into soil, I never germinate and get 100% of seeds to pop in about 5 days with those temps and humidity level. Make sure to have good air circulation, once they pop the stem grows strong from the air movement.

I guess i'll go forward with this plan.

Another vote for just plant them, after a good soak of course. Lol, love how many ways people do it.

Im definitely not against the whole soak, wet paper towel germinating process, it does work, I just find that planting directly into soil is more of a natural way of growing. just a preference thing.

I don’t like the paper towel step. All those micro hairs getting ripped out. Soak and plant for me.
