How important is an inline fan?

I have a 6.5 x 6.5 with maybe 3 or 2 lights. My question is I am deciding if I need to get the AC infinity T8 which is an 8 inch duct compared to the smaller T6 6 inch duct. Now I’ve seen people use the 6 inch on 5x5 grows. I’ve done the calculations for the cfm and it says it is short 350. I’m wondering would I be okay to get the 6 inch or just Spend a little bit more and get the 8 inch?

I’m running a timber grow redwood valley and a kind led xl1000 for lighting in there. Should I get more lights maybe?

Since price is close from 6 to 8, go 8. It's better to get a size larger (or the correct size) because you have to factor ducting length, bends in duct and filter which reduce cfm. If you want your fan to last longer then you get a larger fan to run at lower capacity as @Cupboard guy shared.

Exhaust fans are important to answer your thread title. It keeps air circulating, fresh in, old out. If smell is concern then a filter is necessary.

As for your lights, run with what you got. Don't upgrade until you've tested it to measure progress. If you find that it's not enough, then you'll know.

I much prefer to oversize a blower and use a speed controller to slow it down. This way I still get the CFM I want but it's not nearly as noisy. I also have CFM for the future should the need present itself.

With the shape and size of your tent and the coverage of your lights they are not a good match.
No real way to get even coverage , I would do some growing for now and in the future if your space allows it change tents to a 4x8ft.
That will lend its self better to the lighting you have.

If your stuck with 6.5x6.5 due to the shape of the room itself then I would sell the kind and build around the existing timber with the addition of extra cob bars.

This is the right thing to do. Go big and control the speed. If you dont have EC-motor, spend the money and use transformer controller, never thyristor/transistor.

Just bought 5 step transformer to control my fan.
