Anyone here anything about the GeekBeast Pro or the GeekLights?
Think I'm going to get (2) 240w Geeklights for my 4x4 space

No one gives a FUCK but a slim minority of idiots! Hlg is full of shit as are most, open your eyes smell the grind, every year the same broshit.

Anyone can tell me what the real differences are between Epistar and Osram or cree? Does Osram and cree make that much of a difference?

A generalization would be that some manufacturers are claiming higher efficiency figures for some of their product line. The biggest difference is in the end price of lamps made with those leds. Unfortunately, efficiency does not always equate to the finished product. Usually because profit is a driving factor, diodes are populated sparsely and so the lamp might not come so close to the reported datasheet efficiency figures. More diodes running at same wattage would be more efficient, but manufacturer would have to narrow his profit to not lose customers running to a competitors cheaper equivalent.

If you are talking about diodes other than white, seems like the benefit of reds and uv added to white is blown out of proportion. Sure that benefit can be found in their use, but you won't see many manufacturers posting recorded test grow data. Added red will shorten flower period. Added blue might enhance medical qualities. UV is very easy to overdo, and unless you are testing product there is no way to be sure.

You could bet on accomplished and experienced growers being just as capable of record harvest yields with combinations of generic white led. Or some enhanced led product.

The science is there, but social media, personalities and followers create a weird hyperbolic world.

And HLG caught Chilled fudging their numbers by testing one bar, instead of the whole light, and likely did a flash test rather than letting the fixture warm up. It's not hard for these companies to cook the numbers.

Funny, Fluence is considered the best light on the market, and they claim 2.7. You should take the time to see how they come up with these numbers.

I'd love to see HLG pay to have this tested and get the real numbers. Now all that said, I'm not knocking the light, hell, even a 2.6 is in the top 10% of lights.

Epistars are cheaply made, low end LEDs, its why those cheap Chinese lights can sell for $89.00........ you get what you pay for. Cree and Osram are quality products and their performance is very good. Osram seems to have fallen behind a bit with the exception of theor RED and Far Red LEDs. Cree? not sure where they're at these days, I know their COBs have fallen a bit behind the curve but never count Cree out! Samsung seems to be the leader these days, though nichia and Lumiled have some excellent chips also. You couldn't pay me to take Epistars though..........

Cree is slightly ahead of Osram by the slimmest of margins in efficacy.

Chilled are now lying about numbers/hiding the chips being used in their Growcraft line up.

Oh please! Where do people come up with some of the stuff they say?

Made in good old USA. Premium product. Appear confident enough in their product that they put the basic details out there in public domain, so some worthless cvnts can go get them made cheaper in Asia. Spoon feeding.

But these are datasheet figures. And crafty under driving of lesser diodes can bring good numbers, so in theory, if you substitute diode quantity and underdrive, it is possible to match more expensive offerings? In theory and on paper anyway. Doesn't necessarily translate to real world applications, but its good to dream.

Didn’t take long for the HLG fanboys to shit up this thread didn’t it?

Another reason I would never buy one of those overhyped overpriced overadvertised glory boards. NEVER!

HLG is started to hit Advanced Nutrients level of bullshit. LMAO. Their dawgs are an embarrassment.

Their fanboys shit up every thread, cause remember boyz... only HLG tells the truth, all other lights are shit with lying manufacturers. May as well buy an incandescent bulb if its not HLG.

That’s right, spend an extra grand or else our fanboys will hammer your threads relentlessly!!

Looks like the only way HLG can get free advertising anymore is sending their fanboys to shit up their rivals threads.

Utter embarrassment at this point.

I really hate even posting here cuz this mf board is so toxic. Always someone trying to bitch.
We should just make a fucking HLG thread with their stupid taking points about how great they are and just reference that thread every time we chat about another light to save their shills some time.

I don't get it? HLG publish lab reports for their own stuff. Yes, they took advantage of chilled's estimated figures to make for some neg publicity. Why don't they go round and start pointing out that others strip product is likely to not hit the upper efficiency figures posted for single strip compared to an array? Maybe chilled said something in past history that hurt feelings? All these guys make good product, might not suit everyone, but we can always hunt for alternatives. Don't see why people have to get so tribal. Is fun watching people get up on their high horses though.
