Broke My Main Stem in Half.

So I'm new to growing, this is my first plant, she was doing great, IMO, but my kids blow up pool blew over onto my plant. The main stem bent in half, there were thin strips of plant attached together but it was limp and lifeless. Not knowing what to do, I cut it in half and placed the two pieces together, the top sliding down onto the lower part of the stem. Should I tape it up or just leave it be at this point. Pics included.

You might as well just take that out and consider it topped at this point man

Congratulations! You completed your very first topping. I'd pull that other part of the plant out and let that baby fill out. It's not going to kill it. The hole is fine. It'll heal up just like if you had a hole in you lol

Idk its clever and connected well. If you scotch tape around it to seal it up (for about 2 weeks) it may well be fine. But topping is great why not... go either way.

Was the top dead when you decided to pull it out? I find the idea of grafting pretty fascinating..
The very first picture in this thread was how it looked before I took it off, it was drooping badly. I'm not sure if it would have survived or not. Obviously I'm not going to repeat the actions that broke it in the first place lol, but if it happens again, I'll give it a go and post along the way.

That tear actually isn't too bad. If it ever happens again follow Sarah's advice above and it will be fine. I tripped and split one side of a gsc I had topped, in week 3 of flower. Was during lockdown at night and stores were already closed. I used plant ties and a chopstick to brace it and wrapped it up with blue painter's tape. Lol.

That cola stopped growing for a couple weeks and ended up almost 4 inches shorter, but was by far :weed: the best. Stress, I guess.
