I'm voting for McCain....

Okay, so you posted a twenty-second clip from an entire speech that was mostly about community service. Where's the rest of the speech? I've looked and found a 26-minute portion of this speech (also on You Tube), and I've now wasted a whole lot of time searching not just google, but common dreams, freerepublic, etc, for the rest of this "national security force" that was highlighted in the twenty-second clip. I can't find anything other than stuff at freerepublic on this whole issue.

Here's what it looks like to me, and to the rest of you O supporters, you might want to look away, because you might not like this.

It seems that he deviated from the speech he was supposed to give, which was, as Natrone noted, primarily about community service, etc, among our middle and high school students, as well as university students (as a "pay back" for their educations, from what I understood).

So he deviated from that speech, and someone posted only that twenty-second sound clip.

There's nothing else, as far as I can find. I even looked at Daily Kos, and they LOVE to fight it over there. I checked a few more subversive liberal boards, looking for this information, someone to shed some light on it, and I cannot find it.

So. From what I can find, or rather not find, it looks like Obama deviated from the speech he was supposed to give, and tossed in that comment that you found on youtube. I don't know why.

Do I approve of it? Without hearing more about it, I really can't tell you. A national security force? Well, my first reaction is NO, I do not approve of that. We've got the FBI, the CIA, Homeland Security (a real joke if ever there was one). I'm also all for state's rights (which the Bush administration has done a fine job of trampling on). IF that twenty-second sound bite is exactly as you are painting it, Brutal, then I am WITH you on this one. No. We do not need Hitler Youth Groups (anyone recall Laura Bush's plans for Laura's Boys? sounded a little too much like Hitler Youth Groups to me).

But until someone can shed some more light on this, I'm in the dark. My impression is that no, I don't approve of something like that. If, however, we are talking about something akin to National Guard? Well, that's okay with me, esp since our National Guard is hardly a National Guard anyway at this stage of the game; they're now part of the military that's been deployed overseas.

I don't know. That's my final answer.

The rest of the speech, however, sounded okay to me. I see nothing wrong at all with middle and high school students doing fifty hours of community service. I don't buy it that they're too selfish to do that. And especially if it's mandatory, they really can't say they won't, can they? University students can certainly give 100 hours of community service.

I went to private schools and I was "forced" to do community service myself. I don't look back on that with regret. I also force my teenager to do things. He's a member of the Beta Club and they force him to do community service as well.

So that part, I have no problem with.

The rest of it? Until I know more, my first impression is NO.

So there. I've given you my best answer, agreed at least somewhat with you. But without knowing more, I can't say for sure.

And Brutal, your backpedaling on the Hitler-related comment is just not doing it for me. That was a crappy thing to say to me.

somehow i just dont see you as an evil jew blaming genocidal maniac

but thats just me

Yeah, it's just me too. Maybe there's some super dark side of my personality I've get to get in touch with, but is evident to Brutal?

I don't get it and I'd like to see which post Brutal is referring to, the one he alludes to, saying that I would make a perfect candidate for some Hitleresque force of some sort.

So, Brutal, where's this post of mine that made you think that?

and this part of your post, too; explain this:

I think that democrats are blind to the flaws of their demagogue and are too busy attacking McCain to realize that there are more flaws in their president-elect than there are in McCain. Which is really damn amazing in away...

Where have you seen me attacking McCain? I've even come right out and said that his campaign has done nothing illegal with regard to accepting federal funds. I have not attacked McCain. Or was this not directed me personally? If so, my mistake in reading, or your mistake in placing this comment directly under the one that you meant for me.

No, given a choice between Obama and McCain there is no ands ifs or buts about the way any one with any understanding of history will vote.

Wrong, buddy. I've got plenty of understanding about history, and I bet I would beat you hands down in a trivia game. And there's no doubt how I'm voting. So quit insulting everyone who does not agree with you.

Did you read the Eisenhower speech I posted back there? Had you ever even heard of it before I posted it? Do I come across to you as someone who knows nothing about history? Wow.

no one believes that you are really going to vote for a guy that sings about bombing innocent people, specially one who has already bombed innocent people. and who is not likely to live through the next 4 to 8 years leaving the saracuda in power

I didn't even compare her to Hitler, but if I was going to compare her to some one in Hitler's Administration I'd have to say the Minister of Propaganda, Gerbils, I mean Goebbels.
You know what? You have not read my posts on the media on this thread, have you? If so, you'd know that I'm nothing like Goebbels.

You have stooped to a real low here, Brutal.

Further, you've not pointed out to me where this post of mine is that made you think I'd be a perfect candidate for this hitler-type national service that you said I posted. WHere is it? WHERE IS IT???

Now, back to your twenty-second sound bite.

YouTube - Barack Obama: Call to Service in Colorado Springs, CO

Scroll all the way through to about minutes 16- 19, something like that and hear the rest of it.

And thank you so much for the mutual respect you've shown me. I'm like Hilter, and now I'm like Goebbels? Yeah, right.

I admit it when I DO NOT KNOW something. I admit if I'm wrong. I give credit where credit is due. I have not attacked McCain, and I've hardly been a kool-aid drinking fool as has been suggested by some of you on this thread, either. I've created some very detailed posts about the media and on Ayn Rand, for that matter, on this thread, and you guys can't even admit that I've been fair in my summations. You attack me instead.

All that tells me is that I'm a thorn in your side because you can't prove me wrong. Too bad. You lose.

edited to add: one of your posts today says, "No I did not compare you to Hitler"

This is from your post #1947:

There was this mad man who did that back in the thirties, and from what I understand it didn't work out too well for Germany.

Then again, I think you were showing us that you would be the perfect candidate for that kind of position with one of your posts that contained some comment along the lines of ,"On your way," or whatever it was that you said.

Nothing but backpedaling. Yes, you did compare me to Hitler (and now to his minister of propaganda); AND you've never pointed out to me this mysterious post of mine "along the lines of ', [sic]"On your way"'

Backpedaling. Baiting. Bullshitting. Twisting up the truth. And you call yourself the Brutal Truth?

Oh my. LMAO

of course they wanted nader thats why they voted, but its a popularity contest in the end.

voting for third partys is like nominating the kid with a pizza face as prom king
hes just not going to get the votes, and he takes eyes off the real question of who is going to be running the show.

Nader voters caused bush

what a shitty beer

what america needs is total democratic control, because it worked out great when we had republican controlled houses.
.......what makes you think that the people who voted for nader, wouldn't have voted for bush? I voted nader, truth be told my vote was not going to either party, so if I/we wouldn't have voted and stayed home, wouldn't bush still won? The ol blame game.

I think I hit a sensitive spot... maybe I was wrong, maybe you'd be more comparable to Hitler's mistress, Eva Braun.

Nope, I'm not like Eva Braun. I'm a thorn in your side who asks you questions that you cannot answer.

Enough of this crap. All you're doing now is showing that you are incapable of honest debate/discussion and resorting to insults of some of the lowest degree I've seen yet, even on this thread.

You lose, sorry, you do. You fail to back up your assertions.

Personally, I don't really care which way the media is slanted, because both sides are slanted the same way, towards BIG government.

Though, Leilani, did you hear Obama's little Nazi-esque State Police Rant? How any one can vote for him after that kind of idiotic comment is beyond me. I can't vote for some one that is arguing that we need to establish a State Police or a State Security Force.

There was this mad man who did that back in the thirties, and from what I understand it didn't work out too well for Germany.

Do me a favor and at least quote me in the entirety, but seeing as how both of us are going to disagree on who I was comparing to Hitler (which was Obama). Maybe we should see if any one else will say that I was comparing you to Hitler based on the entire post?

So, any one? Does it look like I'm comparing her or Obama to Hitler?

Edited to add:

Of course, I have to admit that the 20 second clip was chopped out of a speech, and appears to have been taken out of context, so I was wrong about that.

Was it really possible to construe that post where I mention Hitler as comparing Leilani to Hitler, because I still don't see it.

McCain Voted with the Bush Administration 89 Percent of the Time. Since President Bush took office, McCain has supported Bush’s positions 89 percent of the time. McCain’s support of Bush’s policies reached as high as 95 percent in 2007. [Congressional Quarterly Voting Study, 110th Congress]

When doing so, they may wish to consider that Obama's votes were in line with the president's position 40 percent of the time in 2007. That shouldn't be terribly surprising. Even the Senate's Democratic leader, Harry Reid of Nevada, voted with Bush 39 percent of the time last year, according to the way Congressional Quarterly rates the votes.

thats all i really need to know. 95 percent pretty close to a 100
