No its just the result of how a marijuana plant grows. Everywhere there is a leaf, there will be a branch.

Why wouldn't new growth grow at a node? You kept that plant short with close nodes. That growth is normal.

The spacing between leaf/branches vertically on the stem. Close is good rather than some of the spindly plants you see with 6 inches between. So if you wanted it short you accomplished that goal.
