How much can my setup yield?

Hi guys, I’ll preface this by saying I’m new and didn’t do enough research ahead of time and am now paying for it. Hopefully some of you will lend me your wisdom.

I purchased an LED from Amazon for my 60”x31”x80” tent. The Bloomspect Optical Lense Series BS1200 “1200w” LED. I now know it is not truly 1200w’s and it’s true draw is 280w with both Veg and Bloom switches on, 135w with just Veg. So my questions are:

-how much yield should can I expect to get from this light? I’ve read it’s about 1g:1w, but would that hold true for this light?

-I currently have the lights at about 10” from the plants on just the Veg switch. Would you recommend lowering it closer to the plants since it’s only really 135w’s?

That light won't even come close to covering that tent. You need 2 more of those lights to cover that tent. I'd say you'd be pushing it growing 2 plants under that light. And you want to run both switches on. Those veg and bloom switches are just a gimmick. You want both veg and bloom on all the time.

I understand. Was just hoping if someone has had experience with this light, or what a light of that wattage could possibly yield.
Thats way too little light for your tent. Without adding more lighting you are only going to have good results with the plant/plants in the lights footprint.

Lights really don't have a gram/watt rating. If you have a new grower and an experienced grower growing the same clones, in the same environment, with the same light, the new grower may pull only 0.25 grams/watt while the experienced grower may pull 1-2 grams per watt. The only thing I can tell you is that you need a minimum of 50 watts/sqft of growing area with that type of light if you want any chance of hitting 1 gram/watt.

I just said in another thread and I'll say here, strain makes a huge difference too. I'm just harvesting a group of plants grown together, all started at the same time, same food, etc.

one plant, a beautiful purple Putang, I got 1- 1/2 oz from

another, a lemon skunk /sour diesel strain, I got 5 ounces from

And, the lemon skunk is way better weed.

I spent several runs finding decent strains for me, and now I'm back at it, searching some more, lol.

But yes, more light will be needed !! You might be good for now, for the veg stage though....well good enough, and then maybe you can get another for flower. And even if not, you will get something.

Have fun with it, and welcome to RIU !!

I started a year ago with an amazon "2000W" actual about 500, AGLEX2000. Now I'm running 2700 actual watts, mostly lm301b's on strips and boards. As soon as you get a few weeks in, you will be craving more light almost as much as your plants

Its tough bro, you might pull of 0.5 g/ watt, on your first grow, If your lucky. Only experience will increase your number. Good luck and don't give up!
