Back too the good old days for me with my new grow. Decades ago when only MH and HPS were the weapons of choice it was MH for veg and HPS for flower.

So, MH it is for veg and very white at 5200k. Looks lovely after years of mainly Dual Spectrum HPS. Very crisp and pure and I'm sure my new additions will love it when they are started later this week.

Anyway, question/poll for you all if you are wiling to partake.....veg light only must be HID only because I don't want this thread to be turned in an HPS vs LED fight fest as they seem to do.

So, HID lighting & veg period ONLY what is your ideal colour temp for veg using HID system?

The poll includes DS because of those that like the best of both worlds so feel free to poll away.

Just a general opinion poll to get an informed consensus which is very helpful to all.

Here is my 5200k MH just being given a once over before I start again later this week.

How about flouros? I honestly believe t5 6400k is better for veg than any hps, mh, or led.

Was really really hoping to keep it to HID as I said many time in the first but there is always one

Can we forgot flouros and just HID as I said and start again?

At least you have given a preference to a certain colour temperature which is the point so well played for that.

i dont have much experience vegging with HID so i'll let some others chime in. Your setup looks badass tho! super clean.

This year I have been running Vivosun 600 watt metal halide to veg. 4200K. Very good results. Had these for a couple of years because someone gave them to me as they didn’t use MH. I thought the 4200K wouldn’t be as good as something around 5000K but they’re rocking.

I understand that but at least we have 6000k+ for you and the colour is where it matters.

As for my set up, just getting it ready for another grow. Tidying up and fine tuning because my last was big and I never got close to the ones at the back until harvest. Just a tidy up, new CarboAir CF all now connected and replaced with rigid plastic pipe, slightly quieter and really neat/snug.

This coming lot will be 5 in 18ltrs individually scrogged but might only get 4 in depending on scrog size/future plant development. Dunno yet.

Anyway, back on topic shall we.......

There are better more blue hps spectrums thesedays more better to veg with.

Recently someone posted a cmh bulb that works for hps but very exspensive at £100.

Mh just looks so nice in the tent, things really show definition over hps.

Oh. Will do then. Thank you. Hydro store has a setup I want. 10000 veg ability. Seems like I’m just waiting for a lump sum I’m expecting. Awesome guys thank you

These are now 17 days old from seed under 600watt MH 5200k and although the look well I am not convinced that I will have short spaced nodes.

I'm happy with them but I see no difference under pure MH opposed to dual spectrum HPS lighting.
