When Should I Start Nutrients?

Hi Everyone! I’m new to this so bear with me! I started Jack Herer, Super Lemon Haze and Strawberry Cough 5 weeks ago from seed. I started them in FFF Happy Frog then transplanted them to bigger pots using FFF Ocean Forest. I haven’t used any nutrients yet but have FFF Nutrient Trio coming, I was told I need to start using them soon but I’m not sure what week I should start on and if I should start full strength or a little less? Thanks in advance!

I would top that taller one right at your white line and start pulling the branches apart as they grow.

FFOF has nutrients so if you just transplanted you will not need them for a little bit. At least 3 weeks or so. Just ph your water to 6.5 going in and top that tall one if others agree.

then when you do start with nutrients. Start at half strength and water at least once in between feedings.

I wouldn't top it, it is already flowering, and looks like it has been flowering for a couple of weeks already.

Oh yes thank you! I’ve been questioning my watering. I do it every other day but not soaking...I’ve been worried about over watering so I’ve been just guessing. I will add more water

You have been slightly underwatering them. I would soak the whole medium and wait a few days for it to dry out. Once they are root bound you can water the same way but daily

I think you should be more careful of the heating pad at the germination phase. They go to 36 degrees of Celsius and thats the reason why your plants are sprouting more than grow “bushy”. Higher temperatures does not mean that they will grow up sooner!!!

A little correction: they will grow up faster, but not so strong and healthy...

The plants look good. I would start using the nutes as soon as you get them, start with a small amount and see how the plants look after. Be sure to water the whole container and not just near the middle, let the soil dry out before watering again. I use 5 gallon grow bags and will water outside on the deck, I will start with a half gallon then pick up the bag and see if the spot under it is completely wet from run off, usually the middle is still dry so i'll add another half gallon and check again. Wait until either the bag feels light and dry, or the plants leaves start drooping to water again. To water I use an old half gallon juice container with a bunch of small holes hammered thru with a nail.

Usually with Ocean Forest you can go without feeding for a couple weeks after a transplant. I'd probably wait about 2 weeks with those size pots. If plants get hungry the leaves will fade to a light yellow.

With concentrated nutrients I use half strength of the low end. For example if it says 5-10ml per gallon I would start with 2.5ml per gallon with those size plants. With the Fox Farm Big Bloom you will not burn your plants. You can actually add a LOT and plants love it. I did a grow start to finish with only Big Bloom before. The yield was not great but the flavor was. I prefer Organic mixes myself but Fox Farm products do work very well.

First off, great seed genetics! Your soil is good too. I assumed they're auto flowering too, due to size and flowering. What's your light schedule? If autos, dont top. If feminized or regular, you're ok to cut only a couple branches(bottom up) and pruning is still ok, as I can see you are about 2 weeks into flower? She is small, go light on nutes. Better to be low than high to start....next time add a bit more (a ml or 2) to see how she responds. REAL pros know what they are doing and make us envious..I will not pretend that I am one. I sucked at first. But now I'm a god amongst friends...I hate it cause I hate attention, I just studied and applied....over and over again. I've become much better now ( thanks to RIU's awesome peeps), but im always learning. This community at RIU is the best! so rewarding and fun.

Well here’s the thing...none of them are supposed to be autoflowering so I have no idea why that one would be (Jack Herer). They are all feminized and I have them on an 18/6 light schedule. I wasn’t planning on having them flower this soon, I think they need a lot more time.

Oh ok, I didn’t have them directly on the heat pad I had them in a humidity dome...I guess trying to create what I thought would be the perfect environment ‍ Next time I will try it without the heat pad and see what happens

Thank you! From what you said I’m definitely underwater them and not giving enough water to the outside area. I just have them a bunch more water, now I’m going to wait a day and see how they respond

That's really strange. I run my fems at 16/8. I always have, but with no issue. I know it's usually 18/6. Maybe cross pollination or stress caused it to flower early? Dunno, sorry homie. hopefully others can help.

When they are not laying on it than its good thing to use, I use it also to keep temp around 25-27. Always good to have higher temp and humidity, but as well as for humidity, should be higher but not too high or not too hot (over 30 degrees). I have tried to germinate it in the 36,6 temps and I would not recommend that.

And for your question... Guys already gave good advices. When I look to your grow I would say that I started the same way like you do in big containers from seed to harvest without any transplant is it true?
