I have never tried to grow ANYTHING befor and im learning fast everything was going well for the first week but last night i came home and saw that my baby had been layed over on its side i dont know what caused this to happen i also noticed that the base of the stem looked alot weaker than the rest of the stem i was thinking is was due to the lighting but i dont know could some one tell me if im useing the right type of light.

its called a plant light 75w. and i had it hanging about 6" from the light
(the bulb is a shade of blue and got pretty hot.)

from what i know plants tilt like that from to much heat or not enough water or even to much water

i would recomend having a fan blowing at light and use day light cfl bulb their good i use for vegging

their stretching because their not getting enough light. took me years to figure that out, wish somone would have explianed it to me back in the day:P
tryusingsome small cfls, I use 2 32W for vegging small little plants and clones, than you have to add more lighting once they have a few nodes.

i did the same thing on my first grow :wall: there's a couple of probs here
1. Not nearly enough light- i bet ur plant has very few leavesto go along with the puny stem right? That's cuz there's not enough available light for the plant to do its thing.
2. Prob no ventillation i.e. fans- Need at least one fan in there to curculate fresh air around the plant. Oscillating fans ar great cuz they don't constantly blow on ur plant at all times dryin em out. But u want nice little breeze on em so they can get a nice fat stem to support everything.

Sorry to say, but for this grow, ur screwed. If u wanna try again, go out and spend some dough on supplies before u even start again. Get some good lights, HID or cfl's, whichever u choose but remember, u need 5000 lumens per sq. ft. to grow so keep that in mind. Set everything up in ur space, which should be cleaned first thing, put up the lights, fans, all that shit and make sure ur temps stay between 76-85. THEN go for it again.

dude the light is the first problem i've tried to use them when i first started years ago. they put off too much heat for the amount of light they put out.

No incandesents, no hologen, no flood lights just cfl's, hps's, high output floro tubes and metal halide and if your stupid enough to by a led ligt for vegitation but they even suck. those are the best ways to go.

i made my shop light type deal with a 3 foot peice of plywood and bought a bunch of those 6 dollar round reflectler lights with a socket(3) and some socket spliters so i can put two bulds to a socket.

its very surprising how well those CFL's work
6500k daylight are awesome for veg, they keep the plant short n bushy plus you can put them right up on it

i'll have pics posted in my grow journel of my light here in a couple days if you need a good idea of how i built mine. its pretty easy and very effective.

Yeah dude I know what your talkin about. I bought one of those for a little supplemental heat in my veg room. That's unfortunately about all their good for. I don't recall the lumens or if it even had lumens listed on the box. You should grab some CFL's you want at the very least a couple thousand lumens per plant
