Ph Pen Suggestions

So recently i just dropped my ph pen into water and it stopped working it was just a shitty one off amazon i was planning on just using it for a little while till i had to spend the money to get a better more reliable one. Iv'e been looking at the bluelab or either the hm and am kinda leaning towards the hm due to it having a replaceable probe and some things ive heard about it. If anyone has any suggestions on these or if you know of any other ones out there?

do you have this or have used it? Do you think it’s worth the money if growing In organic soil?
I have one and use it, I also have an Apera ph60s (spear probe). They both read soil pH and liquid pH. I don't grow organic so I can't speak for that specifically but I can say that you will be able to quantify the pH of your medium and liquids.

With the blue lab always poke the hole with the probe cover and gently insert the probe then wait for about 30 seconds for the reading to stabilize. Rise and store with the KCl storage solution in the cap and they last.

The blue lab gets a deeper reading than the apera and costs less.

if growing In organic soil?
On this I suspect that pH does matter, especially for magnesium. I don't grow organic but I would wager that if the root zone pH was dialed in at 6.5 for example the plant would perform better than if it was at 5.0 or 8.0, regardless of the organics.

I will let the organic growers have the final say on the matter though.

Agreed blue lab soil ph pen, I also have one and as was stated if growing in soil or coco its worth the price. If you never plan to grow in soil or coco and just need a liquid pH pen oakton ph pen is good. I also have that and as long as you calibrate it, its right on par with bluelab as far as accuracy. Oakton pen has lasted me 5+ years so far still going.

My first few grows I didn’t ph my water and ran into issues as soon as the flowering started.

Iv got issues and its only the first month rofl
Hey man it happens don’t worry. Ph your water to as close to 6.5 every time going in. Check your run off it’s crazy low like 5.5 then your nutrients are probably too high.

mine goes in 6.5 and comes out 6.8 every time. Not sure if it’s the buffer in the soil or the nutrients but it’s always 6.8.

start with your ph so you can eliminate that as a source of problems.
