Grow Kit, Thoughts?

Hey All,

Hope you're all having a great weekend so far as best as possible.

It's been about 7 years since my last grow and I'm really considering getting a small 1-2 plant grow, in my apt. (very limited space)

I'm looking for some pretty compact complete grow tent kits that wont break the bank too much. Considering 24x24x48 tent or a size up.

Let me know your thoughts on this kit . Do you guys think that LED would be sufficient for 1 or 2 plants for both veg and flower? I'm not trying to achieve the most miraculous buds but just something to enjoy, alil personal smoke and fun project.

Thanks in advance.

Thank you! My last grow I had a secret Jardin dr90 but gave it away some years ago. That ran me a bit over $1K which im trying to avoid.

Depends on how much hands on work you want to do. Ac infinity cloud series fan auto on and off is very nice to have. That would be 1 plant grow to maxiamise your space. For price wattage and power I find the viparspectra p1000 can do a 2x2 tent comes with the hangers to raise and lower it.

Me I went with a grow tent fan light humidifier inkbird humidifier controller 4 inch Ac infinity fan (little small for a 4x2x5) a carbon 2 ratchet straps a viparspectra p1000 and p1500 wanted a single p2000 but not sold in Canada yet. So the lights cost a little more. I like it because it's idiot proof look up the temperature and humidity levels required then set it and forget jt. It fits in my bedroom against a wall easy since it comes out only 2 ft.

The p1500 can get a 4x4 and flower a 3x3 the p1000 can do a 2x2 get and flower a 1.5x1.5
You can get a cheaper fan might be louder. You can get ride of the humidifier and use a hair spray bottle instead. You can just run the fan none stop at a lower speed and get a cheaper humidity and temperature have and just dial the speed in and check it more often.

I also use a raspberry Pi to control my tent a cheap timer can do it or you can unplug it your self.

So it depends on how much automation you want. Lots of people train their plants to get an even canopy to increase the yield.

I would measure your space out first. When you look up lights check the par reading charts they tend to show you exactly how a light performs at certain heights. I like the viparspectra as it tells you how far and how bright to set the light for each stage makes it easy

I can fit 3 plants in the tent so depending if your doing a large plant or a smaller plant 2x2 is tight with 2 a 3x3 would be better but measure your space then pick a size

I looked at all the other stuff researched every part decided to spend more so I would have less problems and make it easier so I can focus on the plants and not have to tinker around as much. My phone controls my tent but a Timmer would've been better it's just turn on at this time off at this time anways

Thanks for this info! I'm gonna do some digging into these items.

I'm going to be hands on but mostly for plant maintenance. Everything else I'd like fairly automated. I'll be doing an organic soil grow so main automation would just be lights.

Again thanks for this info!

One is t the other is the s one has a speed controller knob the other a controller so make sure you order the right one they have 4 inch 6 inch 10 and 12. You can easily chain the together as well ie add 1 more to the controller for an intake fan as well if you want

ac infinity 4 in inline
active air carbon filter
3x3 tent
thermometer with humidity reader
kingbrite led or 315lec
fabric pots and maxi bloom
all you need and only like 350 max could be cheaper if u get a inline fan kit
but some parts might be cheaper if you go to a local hydro store i know mine sells some products for less than even amazon

3x3 vivosun tent -100
Sun system flower power 315- 160(if your near Detroit can get one with bulb for that price)
Otherwise Phillips 315 3100k cmh bulb-100
Ac infinity 6 inch fan 100-150 depending on the one you get
Phresh carbon filter 100 bucks
Total 610

Couple hundred more dollars but it's all equipment that's going to perform. I've never hit less than 8 ounces out of a 3x3 cmh tent and that was after killing herms and having half empty tent. I ran tents set up similar(different brands) to this and consistently hit 12-13+ ounces for years.

You could get this set up down even cheaper with off brand stuff but I've learned that most of the time you end up wishing had bought the better brands.

6 in a lil over kill and would be too much negative pressure, 4in really all he needs

Nothing wrong with a little overkill. I personally like to go big and run them at 25-50% so they are nice and quiet. A 6'' running at medium speed is almost silent. A 4'' running on high speed sounds like a jet engine.

I went from a 4 inch Ac Infinity to a 6 inch the 4 was maxed out keeping the temps down in a 4x2x5 tent was just filter then straight out the side no bends. It would keep it at 25 with outside air 21. So going up inside if you put bends in the ducting. I was using an upper 4 inch carbon filter. I can run the 6 inch at 50 percent and get the same as the 4 inch fan. It does pull more power but slightly less noise at 50 percent speed

If you get the t fan model instead of the s (fan speed only) you don't need the theromitor and humidity as the fan can do it

The bigger the filter you use the easier/more air gets through it. I run 8'' filters with my 6'' fans.

So roughly $130 for ballast, 2 bulbs, reflector, timer, hanging stuff, $75 for a tent, $110 for a 4" 203CFM exhaust, ducting, clamps and carbon filter (4" will be enough for smaller tents).

You'll need nutrients too but those things cover most of what you need. Don't buy the thing you linked, it's shit and if you read closer the light is not 600W, it is 200W

I would not run an open reflector. Definitely want air cooled in a tent. And i would fork over the money to upgrade to a hortilux bulb. And 6'' fans with speed controllers are much better. Move the same amount of air as a 4'' while running at half speed and much quieter.

There are many differing opinions and in fact I myself did just purchase an air cooled kit that will be here on friday lol ( https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00P8P51ZQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). I just linked that to him because I was giving him examples on the cheap.

But it needs to be said that putting a piece of glass in front of the bulb will reduce the amount of light that gets to the plants by up to 10% and will block important UVc wavelength light so there are tradeoffs.

There is nothing wrong with using an open reflector in a 'tent'.

I have that 4" fan in a 24"x48"x60" tent and on it's lowest setting there is a *significant* negative pressure. Clearing the ~30 cubic feet of the 32"x32"x63" tent I linked him (or 40 cubic feet of mine) does not take a very powerful fan, that 203CFM is way more then sufficient.

But those are my opinions and experiences, take them or leave them. I won't argue or dispute anymore (I hate that shit on these forums).
