Ballast Recommendation

I currently have a China 110kh 1000w ballast and it’s messing with my ec monitor, it’s not a huge deal as I just compensate in my head for it. I’m running it remotely, and I know that’s not the best but it’s how I’m set up. I have come to the conclusion I just need something better. Besides the RF interference, I swear my light is dimming and doing stupid shit, hard to tell, bright is bright, you can see it on the wall reflections though, almost like someone is playing with the dimmer (which seems to work half the time) I have eye balled phantoms and am curious as why I’m seeing vivosun 1k ballasts rated up there. Anyone using something they love for a 1k DE? Took a search around but not much recent talk on it that I saw. This ballast I’m using is mid priced, thought I would be ok. I’m down for a low frequency ballast as well, just need a strong one regardless, flower time is coming. 110-240 either or, I’m equipped.

I have a magnetic ballast for my 1000 watt. Wouldn’t swap it for a digital and wish I had the 4 I had that were 400 watt. No fluctuations. No RF interference. The magnetics are usually cheap used on Craigslist. Only drawback is size and weight.

I have considered it, i used mags years ago. I ran cheaper 600 LF digital ballasts before with no issues. Mags are heavy to ship.

Anyone using a nutradip growboss by chance? I’m not blaming my monitor as I can run any other ballast i have in my arsenal with no issues, it’s calibrated spot on, I also verified everything with secondary ec pens.

Yeah it’s fucked man, tripped me right out, I even coiled stuff in copper tube. Just to see if my ec would change. Next step is a dedicated breaker. Honestly think it’s just poor internals in the ballast and any effort is pointless. I’m more concerned with the possible dimming.

I’m prob better off to replace the hood to a ballast on hood or just replace the whole works. Or make the lamp cord short, and hang the ballast above it... I’m getting out the solder gun... haha. Might end up with that LED yet @Dr. Who..

Now I use hydrofarm Xtra sun digitals. No RFI bullsheet, been running them for a few years now and none broke or start doing strange sheet.

I am switching over to purely LEDs and free sun though. Production costs.

Yeah I prob won’t use a mag ballast again just for the fact of they won't throw as much light. My RF prob isn’t a big deal, everything here is buried fibre optics, prob fucking with someone though for sure. All my other ballasts have treated me good. LED will prob be in the future but it’s going to be expensive too. I only require a single k equivalent, I expect it to cost 15-2000cad when it happens. But for now, will run the hid with good results too.

Snagged a lightly used solis tek for $70, should be better then what I have, get me threw this run, price was right. Will revisit lighting this fall. Thanks guys.

Hope it works out for you. The brand that had the cable company at my door was soils tek matrix and the lesser dial a watt model with the knob. Both won't fire 1k or 600 lamps anymore but will fire 400's but clip after 3-5 mins.

If it's the matrix model check to see how many hours are left before the life counter hits zero. Knob version, is no way to tell. Their customer service is abysmal.

Yeah I researched most the info on them, it’s a matrix LCD v2 240 volt, nothing with be worse for rfi then my current one, they advertise very low rfi, fires de and se. I don’t expect to ever use customer service on a $70 used ballast, they suck like you said anyways. Never a bad idea to have some backups either, I don’t have any 1k backups. The entire area is fiber optic so the cable company won’t be coming around, more worried about my monitor..
