Ya I know you had at first until me and rkymtnman came in to tell you otherwise. I'm glad you've got a chiller now! That's a huge improvement! Be sure you use a mesh filter bag cinched around your submersible pump to keep your chiller as clean as you can.

I'm trying to recover. Chopping it off feels like a step in the right direction. If I see improvement from here till monday I'll keep going. If not, I worry that inside my hydroton is a mess that looks like the crap I chopped. I think I got rid of all variables now, if totdoesn't start doing better I feel like it has to be root right in the hydroton. I don't think I'll be able to recover from that. I will treat the plant like a queen till Monday then if it doesnt behave like on off with its head! I'm going in week 7 now... I should be smoking the plant!

If you're very careful, you can dump out the hydroton and take a peek. It should be pretty anchored through the netpot with the root mass it has built into it.

I used GH last time but no improvements. It looked like it was improving with daily chlorine and h2o2 but as soon as I stop the plant looks like this by the end of the day.
I added synsizyme too and benificials after stopping the h2o2 and chlorine to help, but you can see the plant. Its misrable. With dosing h2o2 twice a day it picks up but I think it's the o2 boost.
I'll keep at it, I'm happy those roots are gone and without h2o2 and chlorine my grow room did stick like it is rotting. I'll give it a good sniff tomorrow, I still didn't add any disinfectants today and I won't anymore. It's got till Monday to shape up.
It's a blue dream plant.

Honestly if I am going that far I'll just dump it. Clones don't cost me anything. I live by a medical grower here and I can get a clone of him anytime. I'm exhausted from this plant. I want to fix up my bucket with bigger drain holes. I need a thicker gravity feed from the res, and I have a second bucket I would like in there.
This was a test run to hammer out issues. I found them all and hammered them out at the expense of that poor plant. I am confident next grow will be smooth.
I'll keep you guys updated. I don't want to bore you but if you guys want I can post daily pics from morning and night as this plant recovers or dies and I'll post the timelapse of my struggles if I kill it on monday.

My pump is inline with no filtering. Is that ok? You see it there infront of the chiller to the right of it beside the air pump. I can stick a filter on the intake end from the bucket, should I?

Oh ya I forgot how its setup.. I think you'll be okay, but you really should filter it somehow.
Also, beneficial were instantly killed when you added them. Chlorine and h2o2 will just kill them when together.

I stop benificials when I disinfect and resume it when I flush after disinfecting.
I can put a filter in the bucket where the intake is. It came with a filter and a sleeve that fits inside the bulkhead and the filter attaches to. The issue is the pump only came with one, I'm gonna run a second bucket soon but I think I have enough filters and gear here from my fishtail to put a filter in both buckets.
My fish tank filters clog up every 5 days, would the same thing happen here? I'd rather run without it if I have to keep cleaning the filter! I'd happily flush, clean and descale the chiller every grow if I have to.

That's more of a strainer than a filter. if you put mesh in top of it then yeah

I am going to emphasize patience again.
Save the plant and make it better. Don't throw it out.
You have a well established vegging plant, at this stage they're extremely hearty and can take abuse and come back from a lot. That is kinda pale but otherwise doesn't look even close to dead or past saving imo.
If you can't make that plant better with what you've learned, i don't think its likely your next one will do any better.
It'll need some time to fix its roots and catch back up, but thats still less time than it'd take to start again and get back to the same point.

As far as the filter issue...
My newest box i drilled a short piece of pvc pipe full of holes with the biggest drill bit I had and put it on an adapter that screwed into the inside of my bulkhead. I took one of the filter bags I use on my pumps and put it over it and tied it tight for a simple filtered intake tube.
I originally tried to just put the filter bag over the screwed in adapter, but the single 2" hole with mesh over it would clog up fairly easily. The piece of pipe with holes prevents it from clogging. Wish I had some pics but I guess I didn't take anu.

It actually has a foamy end that goes on the strainer thing. Should I use it?
Alright I'll keep at it. I'm mostly worried about what's inside the hydroton but I also thought it is screwed. If you think it had a chance I'll believe you and keep trying. Lights just went on, ph was good just .2 off which is impressive. I'm usually 2 whole points off before RO. I'm so glad I got that. I'll keep you guys posted now that there is no visible root damage. It should recover unless there is a mess in the hydroton and I should be able to tell if it stays upset lol.
Here's what it looks like this morning. It's actually much better than it looked like yesterday morning. My drip ring on a timer is so much better I think. Typically the plant will pick up a bit and start to wilt around 5. Here's a pic and if it picks up I'll post another of what it looks like "happy" in its misrable state.

Alright I installed it. I hope I didn't do damage I figured it is for fish tanks so it doesnt suck up gravel or sand.
I didn't do anything to my plant, no h2o2, no flushing, no water change (Monday was last) and it looks like it is improving. I am not sure if cutting that rotten root is what is helping or the dripper on a timer. Either way I will let it be till monday let it sort itself out. If root rot is in the pot it will probably go south tomorrow if not it will keep improving.
The AC is almost here, it should be here today it arrived at the closest depot so it should be out for delivery soon just in time for warm weather. It's been under 10c so keeping windows open has worked but today it goes up to 17, 21 tomorrow and 24 the day after! I am pumped lol. Not sure why with a dying plant but it's a techy AC/heater that is wifi enabled and can be somewhat programmed it seems. Pumped!!
Here is my plant now. It doesn't look great but it's better than yesterday. I included a pic for comparison.

I don't want to celebrate too soon but man that plant is improving without me doing anything. It's been improving steadily. Thank you so much for your help guys. I'll be able to tell for sure how it is doing in the evening but the improvement over yesterday without h2o2 or anything is really good.

Like I said, save yourself the headache and dump the hydroton out and cut out any sludge. fill with new hydroton. Your roots will keep it held in to the netpot

Check this out. I'm doing nothing to the plant and its recovering like crazy! It drank a gallon almost so far it is nuts. Still think I should dump it? I am so nervous about that. Those would be stuck and all over the hydroton no? It really terrifies me to think I gotta do that. I can't believe that clump of bad root was causing all that especially with all the good roots. I feel like those drain holes in the pot are a part of it, turning the dripper on for 15 minutes every hour may be helping it drain better and breath. No idea but I'm so happy. That shit was waying me down.
