My temps are getting to 34c due to the heat wave we are getting in the UK, anyways I only just realized I have digital dimable ballasts , week 1.5 in veg , can I dim them to 400 on veg to pass this heatwave and back to 660 during flower thanks

You can do whatever you want to do to your grow. It’s your grow.

what I would ask is
1. Where are you intaking your air from?
2. Where are you exhausting your hot air to?
3. how many lights are you using?
4. Are they air cooled lights?
5. What fans are you running for extraction and or intake?

it’s only getting warmer in the UK so not sure what you mean about flowering running at full wattage again as temps will still be warm outside in the U.K.

I grow in the U.K. but I only use a 400w and my temps haven’t exceeded 27C during this “heatwave” you speak of.
I run my lights 8pm-2pm for an 18/6 cycle. Then in flower I run 8pm-8am.

It wasnt exactly hot, are you not venting your tent or have your thermometer under that 600w because thats actually quite hard to achieve.

Well for starts my temps have gone from 26c to 34c , so I'd class that as a heatwave lol, I'm running two lights 660w hps not cooled (will be 4 during flower) 2mx2m tent , 9 bubble pots , extraction I'm using is way over powered 12inch rpk ,with 12 inch filter in a box etc for silencing, inlet is currently a cooler fan ,but was just tubing untill today , light time is 12-6pm , extraction is into and out of chimney breast in attic room , it's really hot outside the tent, running 400w is easy to mange hence I asked about using my two lights on 400w to veg, also using two v20 air pumps (outside of the tent ) to power the 12 air stones (3 rez's , 3 sets of 3 bubble pots with a Rez per 3) , skipped the last summer because I was too hot but thought I'd give it ago this year , waiting on two small AC units to arrive in a few weeks so flowering shouldn't be an issue

Thermometer 1 is canopy height , 2 is floor and the third is above the lights , but I tend to go with the canopy reading

Sounds like you’re doing all you can.

Are the intake and exhaust seperated in your chimney or both blowing and extracting to the same point on the chimney?

I ask because you could be pulling in exhausted hot air via your intake if they’re located in the same point.

Other then that It’s dim your lamps down.

running at 660w are you over powering a 600w to achieve that such as using super lumens?

I rigged this cooler thing up and it's dropped the temp down to 31c , but that's clearly not good enough , it's 2:11am and only gonna get hotter in the morning

Yeah I'm over powering them , but honestly I always had them like that , just harvested and straight back to veg, my intake was coming from the bottom of my attic stairs , 12foot away from tent , it's cool down there , no real way to intake from outside , and the extraction is on the opposite side of the room

But now I rigged that cooler thing up

turned them to 400w and temp is now 28.5/83.3f, it's going to be a tricky grow this pfft

Dont read canopy temperatures, thats why its so hot. If you read the air temperature outside in the sun it will be much hotter than it really is.

Should be much cooler and nearer temp away from the light not in it.

I dont see heat stress so its other problems. Running a 400w through summer should be a breeze especially at night. Im sure if you keep at it you will work out the problem.

Your thermometer is in the light so we can say thats reading well above air temperature. I just read my plants morecthan thermometer, if its hot they will say so otherwise they love the heat.

Thank you for your advice , I'll sleep on it and no doubt come up with some fresh ideas in the morning
