CFL's vs Regular Floro's

Hey i was thinking about getting a cheap floro light thing. and i noticed there are 3 different kind. T12 T8 and T5 i was wondering what the difference is. they sell T5 at the hydro store and T8 at my local hardwear store. I was probably only going to get the T8. would i be better off with T5? and would the tubes be better than the Cfl's i got now. i have three 23w and one 40w. The tubes are 2 feet long and there are 2 of them.

Thanks for your help

i would use t5 over t8 or t12 as they are more efficient but i think i would use CFL over t8 because they are about equally efficient but with cfl you can place them exactly where you need them

yep yep T5 kick out quite a bit of light. i have a 4 foot 4 tube T5 that i use to veg
and while i know lumens arent the best rating to use when talking about growing it gives you a pretty good idea how much light it puts out and the 4' 4 tube T5 is rated at 20,000 lumens where as 23 watt CFL are rated at 1300 so it would take you about 15 of the 23 watt CFL to get the same light as 1 T5 fixture

.... and because they are long tubes, the coverage they give is just awesome. They hit the plants from all kinds of different angles. Who needs light movers when you got T5s? ;-)
