Colorful (yellow/brown) but not cool!

Growing a supposedly autoflower strain in Detroit Nutrient Company "water only" soil and have top dressed once with Roots Organic Bloom Terp tea. It's at about 7-8 weeks growth and some it hasn't even preflowered yet... I'm guessing the autoflower genes are not strong with this one and may need to flip the lights somehow...

Watering every 2-3 days as medium dries out. Somehow, the medium became solid as a rock. I noticed a couple waterings ago, the water wasn't absorbing. I broke it up and watered thoroughly, saturating everything.

Last pH in was 6.3 with pH out at 6.7. The yellow and brown spots are on OLDER fan leaves only. No nutrients have been used. Early waterings were not pHed, but have since been pHed around 6-7 (I was told, living soils didn't need to be pHed....). My tap water is filtered with carbon filter then aerated before watering and typically runs a pH of 7.7 ish. Only thing added to water has been molasses and/or kelp.IMG_20200506_030809.jpgIMG_20200506_030813.jpg

More than likely a reg photo strain , all you do is flip it.

Tried researching that Detroit nutrient company soil .... looks like some kind of peat / coco blend with a few amendments.
FYI ... pretty much “ all “ complete soils are water only. To recharge them , you dump a little more on top and water in.

Hate those gimmicky claims .

How are you checking ph ? and / or adjusting .

You also described soil becomes “ compacted “ .... like a rock. That is not good .

I'm just checking pH of water going in then pH of runoff water. I've used this soil before, this is the first time it became compacted which was super strange!
