Issues with a leggy seedling

Hey everyone I am new to the forum though I’ve turned to you for information helping the process.
Last night I had one of my babies fall over, too leggy not enough light atm( waiting on 300w vegbloom led) and I was about to call it on her and pulled it. But I didn’t want to give up on it, I pulled the pilot leaves to remove membrane down the stem to where it tore and replanted it as if it were a clone.
It is a very young seedling 5finger leaves just now showing, it is in potting mix supplemented with grow-micro-bloom and it seems to have stiffened back up overnight, lowered node is droopy but upper node looks just fine, should I still be worried? Is it too young to take roots like a clone? I appreciate your feedback

they can root like that but its not super likely, if you have one fall over, even if your stem is completely bent/kinked and the top is dangling you should keep it attached and add more dirt until shes upright again, a delicate process but it will bounce back.

always leave room in the pot for extra dirt, seedlings stretch sometimes

That’s what I was thinking I was just gonna toss it, it ended up being a spur of the moment experiment

Halman9000 replies to Gingerzengardens leggy seedlings .

I recently had really good success in dealing with Leggy Seedlings . I read that what you said about not enough light can cause leggy seedlings ( which I agree with that statement ) . I was stuck with the low light problem , and I read another way to deal with leggy seedlings is to drip a little calcium nitrate solution mixed with water , onto the seedlings and it worked really good . The product I was using also had some Magnesium in with the calcium nitrate , The way it was explained in the article was that the calcium nitrate makes stronger cells in the plant . The nitrate in the calcium nitrate also caused faster growth , but that did not matter because the stalk become so much stronger that it quit curling over and stood straight up . This is using a single 40 Watt fluorescent . I also mixed in a couple of amino acids , because that is a new trend adding some amino acids in with the calcium nitrate . Since you can apply calcium nitrate as a foliar application , that is what I did . I did a foliar application rather than putting into the soil . I just dripped a little on the leggy seedling and the seedling grew taller , but the stalk became to strong , that it was not a problem .

I just followed the directions they said on the label for mixing a certain amount with a gallon of water. Or you could search the internet and search for recommended concentration dose for foliar spray with your brand of calcium nitrate , The dosage I used did not mention foliar feeding , but on the internet it does say that it is O.K. to foliar spray with calcium nitrate ,

best regards
