LED Light - Veg & Bloom Settings

Gang,

I hate to admit it, but I am on my first garden using LED lights. I'm used to MH, HPS and LEC fixtures so my Golspark 1200w Full Spectrum fixture is my first go with LED. The light has a veg and a bloom setting.

Here comes the noob question of the year...do I keep veg on and then turn on bloom and run both through flowering or should i turn off Veg, enable Bloom for a bit then turn veg back on along with bloom?

Many thanks in advance.

Thank you gang. I'll keep both on when I want to put the gals into flower. Agreed, these guys don't hog up electricity like the older fixtures from the days of old. I have no issues with leaving them on 18/6 veg and 12/12 flower.

They are pretty efficient compared to previous lighting methods. I go 18/6 during veg as well. But ...

... I still recommended, as does Hot Rod, that you leave both VEG and BLOOM switches on from start to finish. My first VEG only grow, I ended up with a lanky plant and 4" node spacing. Since then, I have used both the VEG and the BLOOM switches and the nodes were much tighter.

@Fart Vapor
Yeah I would turn the bloom on for sure, that light draws 190watts. I’d also move it down to like 24-30” for now as well. After a couple weeks down to 18” and then like 12-18 for flower. Your also going to need much more light for flower in a 4x4. With blurple lighting like you and I have , you want at least 50watts per square foot. So your good to flower a 2x2 area with that light.

That definitely sped up the vegetative growth rate!!! Thank you!

Can someone check my grow journal? I have a light at exactly 40" and only the Veg switch turned on. I am encouraged to turn on Bloom switch after reading this, but what about my Light height above plants? I got 40" from manufacturer recommendations. Here is the light I have:
Amazon Link to GREENGO 900W Equivalent Light
How many grams can I expect to harvest with only one of the lights above? (without adding additional lighting)

So you’ve got 190+250 for a total of 440watts. Are you still planning on utilizing the whole 4x4 tent ? That’s plenty of light for three plants but a little under powered for a 4x4, more like 3x4. I’m using similar lights as you and I’ve got around 430 watts in a 2x4 lol.

It’s really up to the three plants, as far as how much space will be used. This is my first time to ever make it this far in a grow, so I really do not know how big they going to get. I’m definitely not planting anymore, until these are done.

How do you find managing the waste heat with 430 blurple watts in a 2 x 4?

Similar to your set-up, I had 520 blurple watts in my 2 x 4 and found that I couldn't seem to get rid of the heat fast enough. I was having to run my exhaust almost flat out which probably removed any new air brought in from outside far too quickly. This flower cycle, I am going with a QB set-up with the driver wired external to reduce the waste heat.

Tested the heat output from the new light - the fan runs at 40% and the air coming out of the exhaust is not much warmer than the ambient air.

what is your exhaust setup? how is it flowing?
