Meanwell Driver cooling

I have a 240w meanwell driver hooked up to dual 120 quantum boards. The driver gets pretty hot. Thinking of putting the two fans below directly on top of the meanwell. Any thoughts or alternate suggestions? Thanks!!

Eh it may not be necessary. I'll stick the datasheet below. Look at temp vs lifetime graph on page 8. It shows anything under 70*C does not reduce the lifetime of the driver. So I keep it in open air. Never measured the case temp honestly, but I can touch it for a good 5 seconds so I believe it is way below 70*C.

In the end it is up to you!

Assuming your using the HLG driver like me.

I have the HLG-240H-48AB. Maybe it's within spec but it just makes me a little nervous how hot it gets...

Do it. I use them on my Spider Farmer and HLG to cool the board and they do help keep the driver a bit cooler. I place a fan on each side of the driver so it would definitely keep it cool if you put it right on top.

Thanks. I ended up ordering the dual AC Infinity fans - should be delivered later today!

just turn it down a little bit and the driver will last longer. I think the drivers on max for the 240's run a bit hot too.
Yeah lowering the amplitude by just a little bit helps a ton with the heat. I don’t have a kW meter so I’m not sure how many watts I sacrificed by doing it but running at full power the heat was pretty crazy so whatever it takes

No need to be nervous it can do any harm to anything.
But no harm in blowing any sort of air over it by whatever method you want.
