I run HPS so I'm no expert, but I know most guys here say 30w/sq.ft for LED.Thank you, friend! Any recommendations on the wattage number I should be looking for LEDs?
I was talking about how you said “blurples is another way to say LEDs”. That’s like saying “hatchback is another way to say cars”. The term “blurple” doesn’t mean LEDs, it is a term used to define a specific type of LED light. There’s nothing wrong with using HPS, CMH, MH, or LED. There are huge grow ops that run COB LED, Quantum Boards, and custom LED strip lights. They work great for me in a 10x12 room and blurples are the leds with red/blues and such: which I would barely even want to use; only on seedlings if anything
The general numbers I’ve seen are 30W/sqft for Quantum Boards (or strips that have the same diodes), 35W - 40W/sqft for COB LED, and 40W/sqft for blurples and other non chip based diodes.I run HPS so I'm no expert, but I know most guys here say 30w/sq.ft for LED.
I'm always of the favor that if your plants can take it, and your LUX is still less than direct sunlight (like 120k....I wish ) then more is better.
Most recommend 50w/sq.ft for HPS, I run 81.25w/sq.ft in flower...
