Blurple? Not sure what this term means, sorry for being such a newb!
It’s what we call the LED lights that make everything look blue and purple. Yours is a blurple. You’ll learn to hate them when you eventually upgrade your light. Performance aside, they really screwed with my eyes so I couldn’t even bear to be in the room without sunglasses.

It's essentially slang for a low-cost LED light marketed for growing. The "blurple" stands for the colours of most of these LEDs... blue and purple.

Your main job on the first grow is to keep the plants as healthy as possible, and reach the harvest finish line. The grows after that are where you focus attention on achieving higher yields, using the experience gained and mistakes learned in the first grow.

Subsequent grows will further push the desire for better quality, and higher yields with less work and less cost.

I see. Will the small amount of red in the purple light cause the plant to flower prematurely?
No. It's not the colour of the light that causes a plant to go to flower. It's the light cycle. 12 hours on and 12 hours off simulate the fall season, when plants naturally bloom.

The red spectrum simply simulates the spectrum of the fall sun so it's beneficial in flower, much like the blue/white spectrum are more like the summer season sun, and is typically used in veg primarily.

Nope. There are actually some people who have had some really impressive grows under blurples. We just make fun of them because most of the really cheap LEDs that misrepresent their true wattage are blurples. Most people use their first blurple as a light to start seedlings and clones so they often don’t go to waste.

Edit: Holy typos!

So all of this stuff marketed on amazon for growing is trash? I should have figured. I was so confused after reading sites like growweedeasy and then actually shopping for the products I needed!

That is very good to know. I was initially interested in several CFL bulbs, but had no idea how to go hanging those about one -by-one in my closet lol

They are not of quality unfortunately, and it's becoming more of a common problem. Like I said, get your first grow going for a while, hang around here, and dig deeper into the various lighting options. By the time you hit grow two, you'll be brimming with knowledge.

There is one COB LED light on Amazon that I’ve recommended to a lot of beginners on a budget. I’m still running 2 of them in my 4x4 tent with great results. But there are more garbage lights on there than good ones.

There’s a COB LED light in Amazon for $99 that pulls right around 300W and I’ve had great results with them. Can’t wait to build my new lights though! Can’t complain about this type of growth under a $99 light.
