lol, funny planes don't make stripes in the air here. My mom in law lives right under the flightpath to Cape Town International.... I always watch the planes when we go there... no stripes in the sky.

Sometimes they do and sometimes they don't here. I don't think they can control it.

I believe it depends entirely on atmospheric conditions, you likely have different conditions there?

I grew up under approach paths. Jets happened about when I did. Contrails were all about weather, which works with a choice of path of lowest expense, which is about right for airline managers.
 
I've seen contrails, I;m talking about those grid lines seen over many US skies (at least in photos, I don't even know if you really exist on account of never having been there).

Aren't contrails stock market history graphs? But it depends on temp., humidity and wind. Same as your cars exhaust in winter.

High altitude NORAD flight patterns. Low pressure and extreme cold at altitude form vapor trails. Residual water expands, freezes and then hangs there.
