Just found a crack on a halide bulb that is only a few months old, can I still use it or is there pressurized gas in them?

Nah... it should still fire. The thing I've read about cracked HID lamps is that the glass is what shields the UV radiation so if it is cracked.... more UV will get through..... good for MJ bad for you.

LOL.

Worth a shot, but have the spare ready to go in.

Now I have had a car head light cracked and even a fishbowl inside of it. (Yup, water sloshing around in it ) and it still worked. Was dim, but not ticket worthy.

Consider it done for. Fires? LOL! nuclear explosion is *just* as possible.

you should dicard the bulb even if the outer glass is scratched. i dont for minor scratches but they are cheap enough due to safty reasons. if the bulb is in an enclosure (lens) less to worry about. i have seen MH bulbs blow and glass goes everywhere.

Call me crazy but I removed the glass completely, carefully screwed it in fired it up and it worked fine. My hood is enclosed otherwise I wouldnt have used it.

OK... I think I'm just high... but I have to get to the bottom of this....

WTF??? I'm so high I'm actually picturing BBB driving around town in a car that has a fishbowl filled with water sitting under the hood in the 'eyeball' niche of the headlight.

I've GOT to be reading it wrong... but then again it says 'not ticket worthy' so I'm actually believing bigbudballs is driving around town with a goddammed fishbowl in his car's headlight.
