I'm using a 600 watt HPS, sealed hood, 400+ CFM fan. I cut nothing. Big huge rock hard buds. Excellent yields for the space and wattage. I'm not 100% sure since it's been awhile but I think both these buds were from 1 plant that had been topped once. This is 5 - 6 weeks into flower. No way cutting off all the leaves is going to make these buds any bigger. The leaves are why the flowers are large. Big healthy leaves make big healthy flowers.

The issue today is that with so many growers using a dozen bottles of additives and twice the EC/PPM's they need they fry their leaves and photosynthesis which occurs in the leaves is severely compromised. The nutrient companies that have people overfeeding their plants so they can sell more products are now some of the biggest proponents of defoliation. They want people to cut off all the leaves so that people don't see how the products are hurting the plants. Symptoms first show up in fan leaves. Get rid of those and nobody knows for a little bit longer. But if you think something is wrong with your plant we have a product for you. :wall:

Cool thanks man yeah you see it in medicine too. They prescribe one pill it gives you a side effect and they give you another pill for that side effect instead of fixing the problem.

I had really good results we will see how this works out and go from there.

Your first grow hasnt produced results yet. Good luck with your auto

I only prune my plants for airflow and to remove any damaged leaves i will also remove the bottom bud sites that won't grow big nugs. People say removing the bud sites that won't grow big will make it so the other ones grow bigger because it's spending less time developing the small ones. It could be right or wrong I'm not sure but I do it because I don't want to deal with the small ones.

I just realized they are the same person I had this conversation with recently. They seem to take certain advice way too literally. I mean, come on...how can a person think that pH down mixed into water will kill microbial life but using water that is a 8.0 - 9 pH won’t?

I don't think growing any type of plants is for you. You just don't seem to get "it" at all.

Negative short term effects and positive long term effects are a thing.... a thing you are failing to grasp.
That about sums it up. Look at techniques like manifolding. The guy is asking such a broad question and only will accept a flat out yes or no. Even people that let every fan leaf grow likely top them so are they the same as someone who strips all the fans? Not at all. The fool just doesnt understand.

Totally! I usually top a few times, lollipop, then flip. They just wont accept the fact that defoliation is a completely different method.

Your plants heat stressed from lack of airflow, wavey leafs, leaf taco. Prune would help her
Thanks that’s what I did this time. I think the stress is from light too close and nutrients too high. This time I went too far the other way and have deficiencies. So I’m still working on that part. Thanks for your input!

Dude the light wouldn't of done that if you had better airflow and you do have some defecancy but most of the problem with your plant is... airflow, and have fun dealing with mold if you don't prune, and you don't have to strip the plant just prune 1/4 of the leaves. We don't do it to look pretty (just a bonus) it's all about that airflow, without it you will have small buds, weird curled leaves, and prone for mold.
