Is burping needed?

If the rh is stable once everything is put it jars/containers is it necessary to burp? I was going to build the Derek Gilman curing system but ran out of time so I decided to try the Boveda Cvault curing system. Everything is working out great but I’m not sure if I need to burp them. The instructions don’t mention it and on the Boveda site I can only find a customer grow journal instructions type page and the user says she burped the first two weeks. From my observation both of my containers were at 58% the morning after adding the packets so I burped and that dropped the rh to 55%. 24 hours later I checked and it was at 58-59% so I burped again. The next day I decided to let the rh go to 62% and it’s been stable at that ever since. Do I even need to burp anymore throughout the next 30-60 days? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

thanks everyone for the replies and hope to receive more
Yes indeed imho :eyesmoke:
Okay so I’ll keep burping every other day for the next few weeks.
All I can tell you is that burping is very necessary after pounding a cheeseburger and two large beers.
Shidd I never heard of the refinements you name.
I would love a big delicious cheeseburger right now
When the flowers remain dry between burps then you can cut back on burping. The airtight jars cause the buds to soften and moisten in the beginning. I leave the lids off my jars for 10-12 hours in the beginning. They will mold if you don't burp.
The flower is remaining dry and stable at 55% rh without the Boveda packets so I’m assuming I can cut back on burping

Burping is about fresh air exchange not moisture shifts. Always burped quick and often, then got my mmj card and realized why I compelled to do so:

I've bought prepackaged bud from dispensaries that smelled weird/like nutes simply because they don't flush, dry the buds real quick and don't burp. After 2-3 days of burping the bud would start to smell like bud again. Half the shit in the dispo would be halfway smokable if they had burped it for just 1 single second per week to aerobically break their unflushed nutes down.

I know exactly what you’re talking about. I had this problem the last time I visited Colorado, by the time my vacation was over the bud I purchased at the beginning finally tasted like something acceptable. I’ll keep burping and tossing the buds around every couple of days. Today when I opened the containers I could definitely tell the smell is changing and becoming way more pungent.

I disagree, a cure will lock in that flavor and terp profile..
ime, dried but not cured bud will not have the same flavor, taste, nor smell.. not too mention smoothness

I decided to burp and move the buds around in the vaults and I’m glad I did. I first didn’t want to toss or flip everything from top to bottom but the hay smell wouldn’t leave the containers. After the first time doing it and reopening the containers a day later the smell changed drastically to dank bud.
