Harvest at week 6?

I dont get this... if you pluck a nug... wouldn't it take 10 days to dry?
Not if it's dried very slowly in the oven at it's very lowest setting. It's only a sample test. It's not going to be or taste perfect by any stretch, because you're quick-drying and skipping cure, but it'll give a reasonable estimation on what the actual high will be like.

Can rush dry to sample the quality of the high - the flavour and harshness will be skewed due to the rush dry.

Cut a small bud and put it in a paper bag so it wicks away the moisture. Then place it somewhere warm and dry for a couple of days.

oven at 130 for a few hours works too

I take a popcorn puff and tie it to toothpick that is then suspended inside a tissue tube. I place this on the tv or computer exhaust port. Bout 2 hours and she will hold an ember. Accurate high. Hint of flavor.

not necessarily. The idea behind testing small samples of your buds, is not to judge its taste and smoothness where those takes time to develop in the curing stage. But rather just the "high factor" and if its "done" to your liking as it pertains strictly to the standards you like your high to be. So with saying that, the long curing process can be skipped and a more quicker means of drying can be used. Yes your sample might taste like shit and a bit harsh, but again, that's not what your testing.

IMHO sampling only really proves anything if you have something to compare it to. Most new growers don’t know the difference between done and not done. So if they take a sample and get high they think ok it’s done. When in reality if they waited another month they would have gotten REALLY high instead.

I don’t buy into the chop early for an up high and late for couch lock stuff anymore. I tried it many times with various strains and feel strongly that the type of high is dominantly strain related, not harvest date related.

From my experiences harvesting early gets you less high for less amount of time. If you wanna consider being less high more of an “up” effect so be it. When you harvest while the plant is actually ripe you get more high for a longer time. Will that put some people on the couch sure, but it’s not because of trichome degradation it’s because they just got super high.

If you pluck one, and just leave it on the counter with nothing else going on.. maybe 3-4 days max. Add a fan blowing at it, it will take a day or 2 off that. Ive also heard of people sticking nugs in the center of a CFL (the twisty ones) bulb to dry, or on top of a portable heater, in the oven, in the microwave, etc etc.

I personally use drierite desiccant to dry shit in under 24 hours, but theres plenty of ways to do it. Some methods are better than others, in terms of THC degradation... but there are plenty of ways to go from fresh picked, to dry in under 48 hours

You do a quick dry...place the finger broken up nug on some newspaper, place over a lamp and monitor( please dont burn anything down). There will be little to no flavor, but should let you know where" the high" is . Cerebral, stony body high, etc.
