Harvest at week 6?

So I got a girl showing signs of it's time to chop with a lot of clear and amber trics but it's only at week 6 since flip and a lot of while hairs still showing. Why are my trics showing signs of degrading so soon. There are still about 25٪ish cloudy trics though. 50٪ish clear and 25٪ish amber. Is she gonna be an early finisher? How much longer you guys thinking?

Thank you guys. Yeah shes 1 of 5 candy kush but is clearly maturing faster and is oozing in rez so much more than the other 4.

Have you considered drying and smoking a test nug?
Your decision is based in part on how she looks ( my call is another couple weeks like the above posters) and what kind of smoke you like. Very roughly stated, the smoke goes from up/paranoid to down/couchy. Hard to make that call visually.

No I havent taking any test nugs yet, Cant help but to think that at week 6 since flip, no way it can be done. but the trics dont lie I guess. I'll probably pull a test nug off next week.

Trichomes are just one measure of peak flowering. This is a perfect example.

I'm glad you have these pictures of both the trichomes and the full flower. It proves that "amber trichomes" doesn't necessarily mean "ready to harvest".

There are too many people harvesting early because of amber trichomes. It seems that "Amber Trichomes" has become the method many new growers use to decide when to harvest.

Trichomes amber for a variety of reasons and not all of them are related to harvest time.

No I havent taking any test nugs yet, Cant help but to think that at week 6 since flip, no way it can be done. but the trics dont lie I guess. I'll probably pull a test nug off next week.

From that I am deducing you don’t want very racy pot

Id pluck a small nug and test the high.. but its likely not ready

Also, where are those pics taken? Trichs on the leaves arent going to be as accurate as trich's on the buds themselves. But generally, you want all the indicators:
Pistils browning/receeding
Trich's cloudy/amber
Calyxs noticably swollen

Any 1 of these, doesnt indicate "ready", without the others also being present.

But if shes "special" as far as res/trich production, with early harvest times also... id take a cutting from a smaller branch, and preserve the genetics as a mother if possible. Thats the kind of plant most growers want, and it isnt always easy to find. You can take cuttings during flower and re-veg them, and you'll have a "monstercropped" mother plant to use going forward

nope, I do prefer to wait till at least 2 weeks past breeders recommendation. (on average) I find it rare when plants finish by proposed finish dates. At least to my liking. I've just never had a photo plants show so much amber trics so early before.

these pic's are actually from the top colas on 3 or 4 different tops. not the sugar leaves.

That way you can take what you want and let the lowers get more light for the next couple weeks. By then whatever you took will be ready for a test run.

ITs not ready yet period, minimum 2-3 weeks from the rest of the maturity signs. You also need to judge the whole plant, not only looking at the upper most colas that have been the most exposed to damage from the environment. When people say they wait for 20% amber trichomes, that should be on the whole plant.

You are getting some amber trichomes because those were the very first trichomes to form and have degraded first, or because they were damaged and oxidized. Trichomes should be the LAST sign of maturity that you check, and really only after the other signs have presented themselves IMO. I see a handful of amber trichomes in those pictures, but I see lots of clear ones too. Its best when you do look at the trichomes to look from the side, not the top. Its very common for the boulbous head of the trichomes to magnify the stalk to make the whole trichome look cloudy even when its still clear.

I agree 100%. Also, If it’s Kush, it will be an 8-9 week flower. Look for other signs, like slowing down on drinking; inner or bottom leaves starting to yellow and fall off Etc.

Kush is known to ‘popcorn‘ before it’s final days also. Those buds haven’t done that yet.

To answer why they are maturing so fast is due to light intensity.

Each strain and phenotype will react differently to our strong indoor lights.

You’ll probably look at the trichomes in a week or 2 and they’ll look the same.

I dont get this... if you pluck a nug... wouldn't it take 10 days to dry?
