Can't figure out if these pics show under / over watering

Hi all,

New member, the forum looks amazing. I have been lurking for a while looking at photos of under/over watering and while my soil seems dry I can't help but think this is overwatering. I have attached 2 photos of the same plant but this issue is currently on-going with another 2.

Am I drowning the poor guys or are they going brown with thirst?

Any insights given are appreciated so I don't kill the poor girls.

what size pots are those? they look way under filled and it looks like its N deficient. heat builds up in those fabric pots when they arent rolled down because it restricts the air flow and that can hurt the plant also.

whats your setup? lights, nutrients, temp, ph, medium, air circulation, feeding schedule....... give us as much info as you can and im sure you'll get plenty of help.

I will keep that heat build up in mind, never thought of it.

They are 8 litre pots, but you are right, I have been too stingy with soil and will buy more to fill them all fully.

Some details are:
old timers plant magic grow 5-3-3 (2ml per 2 litres)
soil: Plant Magic Plus
temp: about 24C (75F)
a small fan for air circulation

I tend to water about once a day, the soil does feel dry but using other photos as a guide I was still unsure.

8 liter is a little of 2 gallons. yeah, you really need to transplant that into more soil and let them roots explode. a pot that size would be a good started but you really need to get it into a bigger pot. 18 liter is more ideal or larger depending on your grow area. when you fill up your pot, make sure you fill to the top. that way you utilize as much soil as possible and no heat builds up in a empty area. other than that, you look good. and as soon as you add soil, im sure it will get more N and look a lot better.

Looks like you are using time released fertilizer soil. Similar to Miracle Gro. Expect trouble.

how much you watering them daily? if your soil is anything like miracle grow, look for better soil in your area. its harsh on your lungs and it always screws with nutrients.

fox farms is usually the best results. couch lock listed the best of em. if you have any local stores, anything organic with worm castings is a good place to start.

Like Couch_Lock said if it is a soil with time release fertilizers you will have problems, however from what I have seen those problems don't usually arrive till a person is in flower.
I think you have other problems, one might be over watering, the other might be that you are fertilizing to soon.
It is a small plant in soil that already has fertilizer, it probably only needed water to this stage to remain healthy even in a cheap time release fertilized soil.
Nutrient deficiencies in soil are easier to fix than nutrient toxicities, don't be afraid to go water only in early veg and learn to recognize deficiencies.

Thank you, I think you are right and I am laying off the nutrient juice to try and let it not be roasted alive.
