So I’m going to be running a new batch of Ice Cream Cake (Gelato33 x Wedding Cake). Ill be growing in rockwools. What should my ppm be durring my entire flower cycle?

I’m running gh purple and pink, pro sil, cal mag, fulvic, bug bud or overdrive, pk booster but I’m open to suggestions

Are you running a drain to waste, NFT, recirc?

This will be vital to know as you’ll need to test runoff ppms to stay ahead of the game as far as your plants are concerned.

asking what ppm you need isn’t going to be viable as every plant is different.

amount of veg time
Height
Environment
Light

will all play a part in ppm requirements.

That’s sounds right. In one room I’m doing Drain to waste and in the other room and doing recirculating. Veg time is about 5 wks. Height is 1.5-2 ft. De gravita lights. And i try to stick with the vpd.

So if you’re already running this kind of system how come you’re asking about ppm?

Surely you’re tracking ppm IN vs ppm OUT to gauge your plants feeding responses?

higher ppm OUT means over feeding, lower ppm OUT means you can increase PPM.

higher temps = less ppm requirements
Lower temps = higher ppm requirements.

so I don’t get why you’re asking about your ppms requirements as you should already know all of this?

Or have I missed something and you’ve never grown before and are planning on setting this all up?

Just to keep it in perspective.

I’ve bought into all the hype on different brands before.

Ive found 1 brand that rocks my world.

I grow in coco.

I use DUTCH PRO HYDRO/COCO GROW A/B soft water with added Ca.
(Yes I use a grow formula from start to finish)

nothing more nothing less.
in total my nutrients are in 3 bottles.

part A part B and a bottle of mono Ca.

I do have Epsom salts should I need them.

other than this I use pH up and down to control pH.

no PK13/14 no flower boosters or bud promoters, no enzyme products, no fungi products etc.

I provide a completely controllable environment and the basic amount of nutrients.

I feed every single day in coco at 1.2-1.4EC and pH5.5-6.2 if MH NIC is between this number I don’t change it any further.

Thanks for the advice. I actually don’t check my ru off. But I will from now on

With your drain to waste check your runoff ppm.
With your recirculating system check the reservoir levels to track how long it takes for ppm to change and pH etc.

anything outside of acceptable values adjust accordingly.

I agree I don’t check my runoff in coco.

but I thought this guy was only using rock wool blocks?
If he's recirculating he needs to check his reservoir daily and top up. If he's running it drain to waste then it's not necessary. As he said he's DTW

There is no need to check run off.

There is no need to check run off.
DTW using rock wool though so imo he should still track his runoff to see what’s happening within his block in the DTW system.
I agree whole heartedly about the reservoir checks.
I used to do daily checks in my res before I stopped using one.

I would monitor EC and pH but I would only adjust if my pH fell outside of 5.5-6.2 and I would only adjust my EC if it was 0.4 change in either direction.

if parameters were ok I wouldn’t adjust.

I've grown in rockwool and hydroton and never found that necessary. Frankly I've never found any effluent from my grows interesting unless it was called a reservoir :eyesmoke: . But hey if he wants to check it it's his grow, why not? Many roads lead to Rome.

you’re very right.

I always liked checking runoff when I tried the 6x6 blocks. It worked for me.

you didn’t it worked for you.
