i have to move from the very casual place i've been living, to a place where stealth is much more important. i want to get rid of my h.i.d. lighting and go to strips.
i need to light a 4X8 foot area for flowering.
i don't want to know what the best strips are...i don't want to know what the newest strips are...i want to know what a good quality compromise is between price and efficiency...
will these strips do?

if so, how many will i need to light my 4x8 tent, and how many, of what driver to run them? i don't want to run them wide open, so maybe throw in one more than needed so i can run them softer?

i was just looking at this post
https://www.rollitup.org/t/how-many-for-a-2-x-2-tent.1005723/#post-15307894
and thinking i could use the same set up X4 for around 350-400 dollars....the strips sound good, but i'm not against cobs....
They can be ran at a good 75 watts. They do need a heatsinks though. But ya, 10 for each 4X4 would be awesome on an HLG-320H-42A per side.
Or use 3 LRS-200-42 and 12 strips, 4 per driver and 50watts a strip, if you want a cheaper driver option. $20/PC $60 total

would they still be effective if i ran them at 60-65 watts, and would they still need heatsinks if run at that wattage? would a pc fan for each one work instead of heatsinks? happen to have a couple of dozen decent pc fans....

As a LED panel user since 2014, using high quality grow lights BML SPYDR 600, 6 bars @ 4ft (morphed into Fluence) and Amare Technology COBs that have specific spectrum enhancing monos surrounding each COB, recently I came across SF. IMHO, they offer the best mix of spectrums of any 'inexpensive' grow lights. They use Mean Well Drivers, which are adjustable. I think you would be hard pressed to DIY everything that they provide. That said, I would like to see ~ 5% @ 450 blue and doubling the IR

I would get 2 @ 2000, which will give greatest flexibility

Sounds like you have the skill to lengthen the power cord to move the driver/s outside of the grow area

@Chip Green runs the bridgelux strips and knows his stuff.
Any advice chip....?

This option might be bit pricey maybe?
4ft double row Samsung F strips. $440
10 strips total, 5 strips per fixture
2 x HLG 480h 48a drivers. $260
Plus aluminium angle sinks, wire etc.

i'm very much considering the cob set up at this point, seems to be the cheapest way to get the coverage i need, it's all good established equipment, from a good company...and i can quit venting heat AND odor outside, just run the carbon filter and extraction fan on low to take care of odor, while venting it back into the same room.
if i find that 16 of them arent enough, i can buy 4 more and go from a square layout to an X layout, with one in the center, one in each corner.

Also to be considered, I don't know what your chosen growing style is, as far as plant size, you could also add side lighting in the future with simple strip builds.
I've had worthwhile increases in flower development, by adding vertical strip side bars, in the times I've grown huge trees!
It didn't take that much either.
