Ok so I have recently learned that citric acid can decarb weed without heat. So I am wondering if I can us citric acid to make a glycerin tincture without heat. So here is my idea. An ounce or ground Reggie to 12 oz or glycerin, add some citric powder and some lecithin and let it sit for a few days. The only thing I don't know is how much citric acid and glycerin I should add. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Interesting stuff about the citric acid. I recently bought some at the drug store so will have to give it a try for edibles.

I have training in chemistry. I have never heard of this procedure in this context or any other. I worry that this is a hoax on the scale of “ microwave your phone in order to recharge it.”

Addendum. The sure way to decarb is time x heat. I’ve found 110 degrees C for ten minutes works.

My post secondary education is in chemistry too and we used citric acid to do a vacuum distillation of nicotine from tobacco then identify with electrophoresis.

I could see it working ok and have plenty of spare pot to try it with.

You could be right. I never did the experiment.

I have done this. Unless you like the taste of citric acid it's tough to blend in.....I had the intentions of maybe a salad dressing or marinade. I did a citric basil tequila beef jerky.........it was ok, not as tasty as lime juice in the same recipe but the slight herb taste was nice. For the amount you'd want for flavor you wouldn't feel it but I could have done it wrong or maybe a different recipe would be good to try. I still have a jar of it maybe I'll try something.

Link? How do you make sure the pot is evenly heated to that temp? Spreading out on a cookie sheet will evap most terpenes and esters off the pot.

I recently decarbed an oz of bud but double wrapped it in two layers of sealed tin foil then poked a temp probe into the middle of the pot. Once the temp hit 250F I held it there for 30 min then shut off the oven and let it cool to room temp before taking it out then immediately mixed it with ISO to make RSO for the wife. Very little is lost that way and you can tell as you barely smell a thing in the kitchen from it.




The next batch I think I'll make the oil first then decarb that in the oven at 300F for 15-30 min. Rick Simpson recommends that method.

It was some study that cited several other studies. I will have to research again and find it. They decarbed at multiple different temps for multiple different amounts of time and then tested with gas chromatography to see the amount of cannabinoids that decarbed in the process...like I have said on other threads I am all about experimenting.

Do your citric acid decarb first, then after it’s done add that to glycerin.
This decarb method is a alternative method,?and works just as well as heat. The only draw back is the sour taste, but I mix mine into gummies, and it works great!!!

I'd like to know what I'm doing wrong, because I followed the badkittysmiles method as closely as possible. I did not use heat because I do not know how to define "greatly speeds up the process" from the information given and because I wanted to see if a week at room temperature really works. It did not do beans for me. Only thing I do not know for sure is whether to dry or keep adding moisture to the mixture until 1 week.
But it failed completely.
I've asked repeatedly on 3 threads for anyone who has succeeded to correct my mistakes. I've declared it a hoax. Yet here we are I keep finding people who say it works.
I've run out of ideas on making it work for me. I've moved on to ideas like "Why are some people reporting success?" Maybe you people are all putting it in a manson jar and putting that jar in boiling water for 10-15 minutes and citric acid ONLY works that way. I've tried applying heat to failed batches. Nothing but wasted weed and dreams of a breakthrough. Hard as shit to teach yourself anything anymore. So much for the "information superhighway." I've gone fully retro just to find answers and I tell you, searching for information ain't the same as it was in the 90s.

eh. Mary's method is the only one I haven't done, so here goes... scaling it down to 1.75 grams of weed, though! I'm not going to fuck around with big batches that never work.

Dude fuck it ain’t that hard. Get a cheap temp sensor for cooking, put a couple sticks of butter on a pan, grind and put ur weed in, simmer at 230f for 2-3 hours, use a coffee filter or cheesecloth to strain the weed from butter, put in fridge. Done. If you have a rosin press, it’s even easier to decarb rosin. I make gummies out of flower rosin and/or food grade hash

Turns out my tolerance was unexpectedly high during all my testing. Probably made plenty of really strong stuff. Just didn't feel anything.
