first DWC grow

So,,, my buckets leaking, got a inch puddle in the tent... :(
That's why I never put any holes below the waterline when doing DWC in Rubbermaid totes. Drilled two small holes just under the handle for the air lines and that's it. Use a drill pump to drain if needed through the 2" hole I make in the lid for adding/removing water or taking samples.

Your tent has a leak proof floor doesn't it?

this was the plan, if i like her im gonna change the whole flower room to DWC

i got some cheap bits to start but i will definately upgrade over the new year, a couple of backup airstones sounds like a good idea too lol
thanks for the info, ill get some pics and stuff up when the system arrives, i have a double stuffed sorbet clone ready to go in her :)
Try using 2ltr pop bottles frozen with water in to put in dwc pot keep temps down inexpensive way to stay cool. Good luck

Thanks bro!
It’s definately been a learning experience, a bit more forgiving than people to make out to be aswel by the looks of things, but let’s not jinx it now lol
We gotta make it sound like youre going to fail miserably so you pay more attention to the details because youre expecting to fail.
It's all a setup to get you to learn so we have to provide less advice lmao.
It worked on me. I pulled 3 pounds from my first grow and was as happy as could be.

Also do we think this would be sufficient enough to keep Rez temps nice?
That would be enough for probably 2 5 gallon bucket sites, possibly 3-4 under certain circumstances assuming theres roughly 2.5 gallons per bucket.
Im not super familiar with what all you got going on here, but if your temps are just slowly creeping up over days it might be able to handle up to 10-12 gallons of total solution, but id be doubtful of it being able to handle much more than that and even at that point it might have to run a lot.
If youre just running the 1 bucket that im seeing, that should be plenty to keep it as cold as you want. If youve never seen it above 21c and youre running any kind of sterilizer or beneficial bacteria I wouldnt even bother personally unless you just want the piece of mind. I run my chiller at 21C.

I’ve been throwing the frozen pop bottles in and it seems to be keeping it at bay, I guess I’ll get one of those coolers seeing as there only £60 then

And I’ve seen it as high as 24 at one point

yeah id go ahead and get one then. Itll keep that bucket under control and possibly give you a little bit of room to expand in the future if you want to.
Id have some question of reliability from some random china company, but there really arent any other active chilling options in that kind of price range so id say its worth a short for that price if it was my money.

If you dont want to change it to a bigger bucket or a tote, I would find a way to run the chiller pump inline outside of the bucket. Probably using the line thats already on the bottom of it swapped out for some black tubing. Pop a hole in the side of the bucket near the top so you can put a barbed elbow through so the chiller line just dumps back into the bucket as a waterfall giving you additional benefit of more aeration.
Dont want light in your chiller lines either.

Also, dont feel too bad about your leak.
My filtered water line is slow so I usually put it in the barrel while im doing other things to let it fill.
I forgot about it for the first time tonight and made a bit of a pool on the basement floor. Luckily I eventually heard it and it ended up being less than 10 gallons but it could have been bad if I didnt hear it.
