My 1st time growing so not sure when is the right time to swap them to flowering.
I put the clones in the system back on Jan 8th about 33 days ago.
Dont want to risk having them overgrow during flowering and me running out of space in the tent lol.
maximum space i have from the top of the bucket to the top of the tent that the light can be is 53"
now if i take out another 10" for the space between the buds and the light that leaves me 43" and my plants now are about 17 to 20"
I have read that they can double in size during flowering. is this true? or this is best case scenario?
anyway what do you guys recommend. swap now or wait a little more for them to veg all over the net.
thnx

Flip now. One thing I have learned is that the longer a grow lasts, the more opportunity for something to go wrong like bugs or disease.
It has been said that doubling in size can happen. But not all plants will be the same. Some could even triple. Some people will cut the nitrogen during this time to limit growth.

But in a 4X8,like that, don't flip yet. When they're filling up the net like you said, then flip.
Bring your net down 5" though..
Also. Once you flip, you'll need to do a gnarly leaf strip so you can continue to fold the new stretching growth down underneath the net for the next 2 first weeks of flowering.
Or buy another net. One of the two. But DEFOLIATE no matter what.

if i bring down the net anymore i feel like im going to snap the main shoots lol.
this is what i want to understand. most people i know go from clone to harvest in about 2.5 to 3 months max , im already at 30 days so even if i flipped today it will be 3 months, did i do something wrong regarding them not growing quick enough? or genetics , meaning in your opinion is this amount of growth normal low good above average for 29 days of growth?

I recently read that someone is following the following rule with Indica: If the plants cover 1/3 of the surface, it is time to flip.
Sounds like a good thumb of rule (if is right of course :) )

in that case i think im over the 1/3 rule right ? It would be great if we can confirm that somehow.
I just realized i have soooooooooooooooo much to learn about this stuff and of course this forum has helped me with most of my knowledge as is.

First grow, flip them now and you will see how they stretch , you will learn from it and know next time if you flipped too soon.
Rather flip early and have light to all parts of the plant than have deal with an overgrown mess, especially on your first grow.
I get that and thats what my guts telling me to do, but at the same time im learning might as well get some pointers from you guys that have done this before.
if the plants will double at most in size then i have plenty of room , my biggest issue would be if they overgrow so rather cut some leafs back then under grow them. hope that makes sense.

If you're willing to defoliate, being your first grow I'm sure you are, then wait 10-14 more days then flip. Don't be afraid to bend the branches man. You can "roll"/"pinch" the stem in between your thumb and pointer and press down as you roll to break the tissue down and you'll be able to literally fold the stem right down. Just make sure you roll a good 1.5-2" of stem before doing it if it's a decently thick branch.

Don't worry: Even people who grow for many years, still don't know it all, and still talk total BS :)
In reality there is not 1 way of growing the best plants.
A lot of people here claim that their way or system is better.
They are all wrong.

Hopefully you have already flipped. Read up on supercropping, where you break the stem to make them grow laterally

Its more like "The plants will AT LEAST double in size", definitely not 'at most'. Most I've seen is 4x the starting size at flip. Least I've seen is 90% of double the size and that was with some root problems during stretch on a pure indica. The standard average is anywhere between 2-3x the size at the start of flip. Of course, each plant and strain is different but that's what I would always keep in mind on a strain you haven't grown yet. Good on you for flipping though, definitely what I would do in your situation ^^

"At least" is incorrect as well. I'd phrase it as "the plants can stretch to possibly two to three times their height within the first few weeks of flower". I've had strains that barely stretch at all (ie. not even 50%), up to three times their height when put into flower.

Supercropping can seem totally wrong when you are doing it. You are literally breaking your plant in half, and sometimes the stem splits open. But I'll be damned, once you see the size of the knuckle, and the size of the buds on that grow on that branch you will not feel wrong doing it anymore.

I'm 1000% going to try this next round or maybe I'll do it on one branch and see how it turns out
